Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte Betting Tips
Moses Itauma faces the toughest test of his career when he clashes with Dillian Whyte at ANB Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.
The 20-year-old has been hailed as heavyweight boxing’s next star, but he has to find a way past a former British champion and world title challenger in Whyte on a huge night of boxing in Saudi Arabia.
Itauma vs Whyte Rounds Betting Tips
Itauma can demolish faded rival
Itauma bids to get the first big-name win of his career when the 12-0 (10 KOs) fighter takes on Whyte in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.
The 20-year-old has looked a supreme talent in 12 wins over low-level opponents and he was also a gifted amateur fighter.
The Kent-based boxer claimed gold medals in Schools, Juniors, Youth European and the Heavyweight Youth World Championships before making the switch to the paid ranks after winning all of his 24 amateur contests.
Itauma has gradually stepped up in class in his professional career and his last three victories have helped establish him as a breakout star.
The Chatham fighter dismissed Mariusz Wach, who had previously gone 12 rounds with Whyte, before taking one round to stop Demsey McKean.
McKean lasted 11 full rounds against world-title contender Filip Hrgovic in his fight prior to being demolished by Itauma, further underlining that the 20-year-old is most certainly a standout talent in the heavyweight division.
Most recently, Itauma ended Mike Balogun in two rounds and the Brit is rightly being fast-tracked to the top level of the sport.
Whyte’s best days behind him
Whyte will be the biggest name Itauma has faced in his career, but the Bodysnatcher may not prove to be his toughest test.
The 37-year-old has been good enough to win the British title in his career and challenge Tyson Fury for the WBC world heavyweight title in the past, but even on his best form, the Brixton banger would struggle to compete with Itauma.
Whyte has the eye-catching victories over Derek Chisora, Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin and Oscar Rivas on his card, but it’s not difficult to question the form of those victories.
The Bodysnatcher was twice extremely fortunate to beat Chisora, he was floored by both Rivas and Parker, while Povetkin was shot by the time he fought the 37-year-old for the second time.
Since Whyte scored the last big win of his career against Povetkin in 2021, he has been destroyed by Tyson Fury, laboured to a win over Jermaine Franklin, been inactive for 14 months and returned to boxing to beat Christian Hammer and Ebenezer Tetteh.
The form of the successes over Hammer and Tetteh is pretty much worthless in the context of a clash with Itauma, and it’s certainly not at a standard which will be worrying his opponent on Saturday.
You can’t even argue that the Brixton fighter was particularly impressive when beating Tetteh in December, and it is worth remembering that is one of only two fights he has contested since 2022.
Whyte’s best days are firmly in the past and the 37-year-old’s punch resistance could have diminished even further.
The Bodysnatcher has hit the deck in bouts against Fury, Chisora, Povetkin, Parker, Rivas and Joshua, so Itauma should add his name to that list.
Backing under 4.5 rounds looks the best bet for Saturday night’s fight and taking Itauma to win in rounds 1-2 could also yield dividends in Saudi Arabia.
