Nate Diaz Vs Jorge Masvidal Tips

Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal clash for the second time in California in the early hours of Sunday morning.

This time the two UFC stars get it on in the boxing ring, having first met in the octagon in 2019.

Tip 1 - Nate Diaz to beat Jorge Masvidal @ 23/10

Diaz and Masvidal are former MMA stars, but the fighting duo now have to translate their talent to the boxing ring.

Diaz was given a hard time in a ten-round contest against Jake Paul last year, but there was enough in that performance to suggest that the Californian retains some of his peak ability.

Paul was certainly a more experienced boxer and a younger and bigger fighter, but the 39-year-old caused the Problem Child issues and the task against Masvidal doesn’t appear to be as tough.

Of course, Masvidal has a TKO victory over Diaz, when the pair clashed in the octagon in 2019, but Gamebred was at the peak of his powers at the time of that UFC contest and that may not be the case this weekend.

The 39-year-old hasn’t contested a bout of any code since losing to Gilbert Burns 15 months ago and that made it four straight defeats for Masvidal.

The Miami man announced his retirement after being battered by Burns last April and has since moved into the world of promotion.

Clearly, Gamebred will be physically well-prepared for the bout with Diaz, but mentally the peak fighting days may have slipped away from Masvidal.

Neither Diaz nor Masvidal are going to be anywhere near their former glories, after taking up a new discipline at this stage of their careers, but Diaz’s levels may not have dropped quite as much as the Miami man and the Californian looks a little overpriced.

Tip 2 - Under 8.5 rounds @ 2/1

There is little boxing form to go on when Diaz and Masvidal clash in California, but we did see Diaz take on Paul in the ring last year.

The bout followed a pretty standard boxing structure, but that was initiated by the Problem Child, who had a relatively deep level of experience in the sport.

This weekend’s contest is a bout between two boxing beginners and it may end up in a more chaotic affair.

It’s possible that the clash will lose shape, rhythm and distance and it could develop into something more akin to what you would see in a UFC octagon.

Both fighters are way past their prime at the age of 39 and there is also a fair chance that the punch resistance of the duo is considerably lower than what we have become accustomed to.

At 2/1, it may pay to have a small wager on the fight to end before the start of the ninth round.
