LAURA WOODS: NOT GOOD TIME FOR MAN UTD TO PLAY LIVERPOOL

ARNE SLOT NEEDS REACTION TO END BAD RUN

They might have a few injuries after the international break, and lost their last three, but I think Liverpool will hit the reset button and bounce back against Manchester United.

The injuries and lack of confidence may play into United’s hands but the successful sides put bad runs of form behind them – and that is Liverpool.

I don’t think it is a good time for them to travel to Merseyside. They know how to turn it around; they are the defending champions.

Being at home, Liverpool will want a reaction in front of their fans.

Should they lose, while I don't think it is terminal for their title challenge, it would be very damaging for morale and momentum moving forward.

It is a huge game historically and questions are starting to be asked of Liverpool with their start to the season.

Their fans know they are playing badly and a defeat to Manchester United would cause chaos… but I do think they will get the reaction they need in front of the home crowd.

DEFEAT WON’T COST AMORIM HIS JOB

It won’t be a defeat away at Liverpool that forces Manchester United to sack Ruben Amorim.

It is the losses and lack of results against the ‘lesser’ sides that will ultimately cost him his job.

Yes, they beat Sunderland but that shouldn’t be a result that eases pressure on a Manchester United manager.

They are a newly promoted side and, yes, they have made good signings but ultimately United should be beating them.

I think perhaps he is still in the job because of the hierarchy's feeling that they need to give him more time – he was their man and everyone questioned his style of play, so they may feel that they have to back him.

Losing here won’t cost him his job – unless they get absolutely pulverised.

CAN ARSENAL CAPITALISE?

Should Arsenal beat Fulham and Liverpool lose on Sunday, the Gunners will go four points clear of the Reds.

If that happens, it will be interesting to see how Mikel Arteta’s men react.

In the past, they haven’t managed to maintain a lead at the top and have crumbled towards the end of the season.

I do wonder what we will learn about them mentally if they do manage to pull clear. Will they be stronger? Will they stop throwing games away against sides they should be beating? Will they stop getting silly red cards?

It is still early in the season but it will be a big test if Arsenal can go clear of Liverpool. It will be fascinating to see what we learn about their resolve.

UNITED WIN WOULD BE HUGE STATEMENT – BUT I CAN’T SEE IT

If United do manage to win at Anfield, then Amorim will deserve huge credit.

Liverpool may seem weaker due to the injuries and the form they are in, but it would be a massive statement for the Red Devils to go there and win.

They are the defending champions and second in the league so a result in this one would relieve all kinds of pressure on Amorim.

Unfortunately for Manchester United I just can’t see it. I’m going for a 2-0 Liverpool win.
