Transfer Deadline Day - Clubs set for a busy week
With the summer transfer window set to close on 30th August, it looks likely to be another busy week of comings and goings.
Despite spending dropping by around £800 million in the Premier League this summer, most of the 20 top-flight teams will be hoping to do some business before the deadline.
In this article, we look at the top 10 Premier League players who might yet move on before the end of August 2024.
Kieran Trippier
Having played a key role in England’s run to the Euros final, Kieran Trippier looks set to leave Newcastle before the window closes.
The former Burnley man has reportedly been frustrated by his lack of game time at the start of the season, with Eddie Howe preferring Tino Livramento at right-back.
Everton are keen to take him to Goodison Park, a move that might suit Trippier having worked under Sean Dyche in the past.
Time is running out though for 33-year-old, who is 1/2 to still be a Newcastle player come the first day of September, while a move to Everton before that date can be backed at 6/4.
Ben Chilwell
Another England international that could move on is Ben Chilwell, who looks to be coming to the end of his time at Chelsea.
The ex-Leicester left-back has been told that his future lies away from Stamford Bridge, with Enzo Maresca trying his best to reduce the number of players in his huge squad.
Newcastle are the favourites to sign Chilwell, who could yet be allowed to leave the west London club on loan.
The 27-year-old is currently odds-on (3/5) to join the Magpies, while Manchester United are 9/4 to sign the wing-back.
Raheem Sterling
Like Chilwell, Raheem Sterling has been told he doesn’t feature in the plans of Maresca and seems likely to leave Chelsea before the window closes.
Hints and speculation have been circulating as to his likely next destination, with clubs in England and Europe linked with the four-time Premier League winner.
Aston Villa are the current 7/4 favourites to sign the 29-year-old this month, with Juventus and Crystal Palace both 7/2.
Jack Grealish
After missing out on England’s Euro 2024 squad, there has been mounting speculation that Grealish might leave Manchester City in search of more game time.
There has been some suggestions that a return to his former club Aston Villa could be on the cards for Grealish - who was amongst the substitutes again in the win over Ipswich.
The forward can be backed at 13/2 to return to Villa Park before the end of August, while a move to Chelsea is available at 9/1.
Trevoh Chalobah
Another player looking likely to leave Chelsea is Trevoh Chalobah, who has reportedly been told to train away from the first-team squad.
Having spent spells on loan at Ipswich, Huddersfield and Lorient in recent seasons, this time his exit could be a permanent move.
Crystal Palace are the 1/2 favourites to sign the England U21 international, with Aston Villa 4/1 and Fulham available at 5/1.
Eberechi Eze
Having already lost Michael Olise, Joachim Andersen and Jordan Ayew, Crystal Palace can ill afford to lose another of their top stars.
Manchester City (3/1) are understood to have been tracking Eberechi Eze, but a deal looks unlikely to be completed prior to the end of this summer’s window.
Marcus Rashford
Marcus Rashford has started the season in Manchester United’s starting XI and although Erik ten Hag looks to have him in his plans, there is still speculation over the forward’s future.
Paris Saint-Germain are long-time admirers of the England star and having sold Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, might feel now is the time to make a move for Rashford.
The French champions are 5/1 to sign the 26-year-old, while Barcelona are 6/1 to capture Rashford before September.
Mohamed Salah
Towards the end of last season, it looked more and more likely that Mohamed Salah would end his successful spell at Liverpool.
Interest from Saudi Arabia further added to that talk, but Salah looks have taken to life well under new boss Arne Slot.
With Liverpool yet to add any new signings, an August exit for Salah looks unlikely and a summer move to the Saudi Pro League is now 5/1.
Bruno Guimaraes
With concerns over Financial Fair Play, Newcastle were tipped to sell one of their prized-assets during the summer.
Near the top of that list was Bruno Guimaraes, but that speculation has died down and it would be a shock to see the Brazilian move before September.
Manchester City looks the most likely destination if it does happen, with the Premier League champions 11/1 to sign the former Lyon man in August.
Scott McTominay
After coming through the ranks at Old Trafford, Scott McTominay’s time at Manchester United looks to be coming to an end.
Napoli have had a fee agreed by United for the midfielder, but it’s up to the Scotland international now as to whether he wants to move on.
