Premier League Gameweek 23 Tips
It has already been a busy week in the Premier League, with the close of the transfer window and a full round of midweek fixtures, but all 10 teams will again be in action across this weekend.
Leaders Liverpool will be away at third-placed Arsenal on Sunday in the pick of the Gameweek 23 fixtures, but that is not the only highlight, with Everton vs Tottenham, Manchester United vs West Ham and Brentford vs Manchester City also catching the eye.
We have put together a four-fold acca focusing on the matches at Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford that also includes a wide range of bets.
Tip 1 - Newcastle to beat Luton and BTTS
Two of the most eye-catching results from the midweek round of fixtures came from Newcastle and Luton, with the Magpies ending Aston Villa's long unbeaten run at home, while the Hatters thrashed Brighton 4-0 to move out of the relegation zone.
Newcastle's 3-1 success at Villa Park was their third victory in four across all competitions and they have scored at least twice in all five of their matches since the turn of the year, which includes games against Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as Villa.
Injuries are still a problem for Eddie Howe and his side, but they do appear to be turning a corner and should be able to hold off the challenge of a resurgent Luton.
Rob Edwards' visitors will head to St James' Park unbeaten in five and having won three matches on the spin, the highlight being their comprehensive rout of Brighton.
The Hatters have certainly found their feet in the Premier League after a slow start and have now scored in nine top-flight matches on the spin. They can make that 10 on Tyneside, but the victory may be beyond them.
Tip 2 - Brighton v Crystal Palace - Correct Score 1-1 @ 13/2
Brighton and Crystal Palace may be rivals, but there has been an air of predictability about recent meetings between the two sides, with six of the last nine clashes finishing 1-1.
That sequence includes this season's meeting at Selhurst Park when a late Danny Welbeck goal for Brighton cancelled out Jordan Ayew's first-half opener for Palace.
The Seagulls will certainly be wanting to bounce back after their midweek humbling at Luton and a draw may not be a bad result, especially as five of their last seven league games on home soil have finished all-square.
Draws have not been as frequent for Palace of late - they have not shared the spoils in the league since the reverse meeting with Brighton - but do not be surprised if this one does end in a point apiece.
Tip 3 - Bournemouth v Nottingham Forest - Over 3.5 goals @ 17/10
Bournemouth are one of the Premier League's most improved sides and that has been reflected in their goalscoring potential, as they have netted in 15 of their last 16 games across league and cup.
That sequence includes a 5-0 FA Cup thrashing of Swansea in their last home fixture, while top scorer Dominic Solanke netted his 13th league goal of the season during the midweek 1-1 draw at West Ham.
Nottingham Forest have also been amongst the goals of late, scoring in all five of their league games since Nuno Espirito Santo's arrival as manager, the first of which was a 3-2 loss to Bournemouth at the City Ground before Christmas.
Five of Forest's eight matches under Nuno have yielded at least four goals, while five of Bournemouth's last seven have done likewise. Goals should certainly be on the agenda at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.
Tip 4 - Julian Alvarez to score for Manchester City against Brentford @ 11/8
Manchester City's trip to the Gtech Community Stadium to take on Brentford will bring the curtain down on the Premier League weekend on Monday and the Citizens will have revenge in their minds, as they lost home and away to the Bees last season.
Pep Guardiola's side are certainly heading into this game in good form, having won eight matches on the spin across all competitions and 10 of their last 11.
What makes that run all the more impressive is that it was largely achieved without top scorer Erling Haaland, who only returned after nearly two months out with a foot injury as a late substitute against Burnley during the week.
With Haaland potentially still being eased back into action, Julian Alvarez could once again lead the line, especially after his midweek brace took his tally to seven goals across his last seven appearances.
Another goal on Monday would see the Argentine reach nine Premier League goals for the season, equalling his top-flight tally for the whole of last term. Given his current form, it is hard to argue against him.
