Premier League Gameweek 27 Tips: Can Spurs heap more woe on Arsenal?

This weekend’s Premier League action gets underway with five tantalising Saturday fixtures, headlined by two televised clashes as West Ham host Bournemouth at the London Stadium and Newcastle are on the road at the Etihad against Manchester City.

The north London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal takes centre stage on Sunday before a resurgent Manchester United make the trip to Merseyside to take on Everton on Monday evening.

We have picked out the best bets from the weekend matches, creating a four-game accumulator which pays 16/1.

Selections

  • Brentford to beat Brighton @ Evens
  • West Ham to beat Bournemouth @ 11/8
  • BTTS in North London Derby @ 17/20
  • Manchester United to beat Everton @ 19/20

Tip 1 – Brentford to beat Brighton @ Evs

Brentford have lost only twice in 13 home league games this season, winning seven times, and they deserved more in the 1-1 draw with table-topping Arsenal most recently.

The Bees had recorded away wins at Aston Villa and Newcastle before that stalemate with the Gunners, results which have enabled them to move up to seventh and within just two points of Liverpool.

Brighton, in stark contrast, are sinking like a stone and the heat is rising on manager Fabian Hurzeler following a six-game winless run. The Seagulls are playing poorly and are creating little, having failed to score in three straight matches.

Brighton have not won away in the Premier League since November and it is tough to see the tide turning at Brentford, who are nine points better off and operating at the top of their game.

Tip 2 – West Ham to beat Bournemouth @ 11/8

West Ham are rising to the challenge in their bid to beat the Premier League drop and, having taken 10 points from their last five league games, they can claim another vital victory at home to Bournemouth.

The mood is improving slowly but surely at the London Stadium and the Hammers performed with serious credit in a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in their last Premier League home game, ending a four-game winning streak for the Red Devils.

Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville are performing at the peak of their powers and, while Bournemouth have responded well to a mid-season slump, they are still prone to a blip.

The Cherries have won just three times in 13 away league matches and they have leaked 31 goals on the road, so West Ham, with confidence up, may be able to exploit those defensive frailties.

Tip 3 – Both teams to score in Tottenham vs Arsenal @ 17/20

Arsenal are desperate to get back to winning ways having played out score draws in their last two away games at Brentford and Wolves, but Tottenham have a new manager in Igor Tudor and will be equally motivated to land the north London derby spoils.

This is a tough starting point for Tudor given Tottenham’s crippling injury list but they carry an attacking threat and Arsenal have conceded in nine of their last 13 away games.

With Cristian Romero suspended, Spurs may struggle to keep Arsenal at bay and goals look the way to go.

Eight of the last 10 league rivalries have gone over 2.5 goals and both teams have scored in Tottenham’s home games this season with Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Tip 4 – Manchester United to beat Everton @ 23/25

United were way below par in a 1-1 draw at West Ham last time out but they may be worth forgiving given that they had reeled off four straight victories over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham prior to that.

Michael Carrick has certainly got a tune out of a talented squad and, by the time this Monday match kicks off, they would have had 13 days to prepare so should be feeling refreshed.

Everton had gone five games unbeaten before their 2-1 loss at home to Bournemouth, but keeping a lid on Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes will prove extremely difficult.

A trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium will be less daunting than it would have been going to Goodison Park and 13 goals in their last six league games shows just how explosive United have become.
