British Grand Prix Betting Tips: Norris set for maiden home Grand Prix victory
Lando Norris kept his cool in scorching temperatures around the Red Bull Ring to hold team-mate Oscar Piastri at bay and win the Austrian Grand Prix, and he now looks to build on that momentum as he heads to his home Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The 25-year-old, who is now just 15 points adrift of Piastri in the World Drivers’ Championship, will have taken a lot of confidence from his performance in Austria, but victory at the British Grand Prix has eluded him so far.
Tip 1 – Lando Norris to win @ 33/20
Much has been said about whether Norris possesses the confidence and ruthlessness to win the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship, but there is no denying the Briton’s pace behind the wheel, and that is exactly what he showed in Austria last weekend.
He pushed his extraordinarily fast McLaren to the brink as he and teammate Piastri embarked on a 20-lap battle for the lead of the Austrian Grand Prix, but it was polesitter Norris who ended the first stint in front, and he remained calm for the remainder of the race to take his third win of the season.
This leaves him just 15 points behind Piastri in the race for the World Drivers’ Championship, and he could slash that gap further in front of a supportive home crowd on Sunday.
While he may never have won the British Grand Prix, Norris has regularly put in excellent displays around Silverstone. He finished on the podium last season and took second place the year before, and he has generally had the better of his team-mate around this iconic circuit.
He finished over 12 seconds ahead of Piastri in each of the last two British Grands Prix, and he hasn’t lost to his teammate since his first season in the sport in 2019.
Tip 2 – Lewis Hamilton to finish on the podium @ 5/2
Another man who enjoys his time at Silverstone is Lewis Hamilton, who has won a record nine British Grands Prix.
With McLaren showing such dominance, a repeat of last season’s shock win here is unlikely, but the seven-time world champion should not be ruled out of a podium position on Sunday.
The 40-year-old’s first year at Ferrari has not been a smooth ride, but he showed a big improvement as he finished fourth last weekend, and if anybody can defy the odds at Silverstone, it is Lewis Hamilton.
He has not finished outside the top three around this track in 12 years, and his win last season was the 14th time he has finished in the top three. A podium finish in front of a home crowd would be the perfect time for him to kickstart his Ferrari career.
