F1 Monaco Grand Prix: Where Motorsport Meets Glamour
The F1 Monaco Grand Prix is not just a race, it's a blend of the prestige, excitement and glamour of the motorsport world.
This iconic race, taking place on Sunday 26th May, has gained even more attention in recent times thanks to the widespread popularity of Netflix's documentary series Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The series brought F1 closer to fans worldwide, making the Monaco Grand Prix one of the most anticipated events on the calendar.
Season six of Drive to Survive dives into the complicated deals between teams and their star drivers, including Lewis Hamilton's struggle to decide his future with Mercedes. His recent switch to Ferrari for 2025 adds a whole new layer to the season, showing how driver loyalty and team alliances can change quickly and, at times, unexpectedly.
The season also delves into Lando Norris’s rollercoaster season in 2023. McLaren’s early struggles – with Norris comparing their car to a ‘golf cart’ – led to frustration and whispers of a potential move to Red Bull. Managing director Zak Brown tried to keep Norris on board while Christian Horner at Red Bull openly admitted his interest in the talented driver.
Despite initial uncertainty, a mid-season upgrade transformed McLaren’s performance, culminating in a podium for Norris at the British GP and a contract extension for the young driver. All eyes will be on Norris come Sunday at 2pm (BST) as he looks to repeat his Miami heroics with victory over Max Verstappen – he is priced at 9/2 to emerge victorious.
The Glitz & Glamour of the Monaco GP
Set against the stunning backdrop of the French Riviera, the event attracts not only racing fans but also celebrities, influencers and the world's elite. The pit lanes and paddocks are often graced by famous faces, adding an extra layer of excitement.
Last year actor Tom Holland visited the pit lanes to support Red Bull while Michael Douglas and wife Catherine Zeta-Jones attended as guests of the Aston Martin team. Often showing support for their favourite teams and drivers, their presence adds a touch of Hollywood glamour to the event and blends high-speed racing with star-studded allure.
There is already talk about who might be attending this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, including NFL tight end Travis Kelce and his popstar girlfriend Taylor Swift. The couple will reportedly be travelling on Saturday after Swift’s show in Lisbon.
Predictions for this year’s Monaco GP
As we look forward to Sunday’s race, it comes as no surprise that Verstappen is the favourite at 3/5. Hot on his heels at 4/1 is Monégasque driver Charles Leclerc, who will be looking to use his home advantage. Lando Norris, priced at 9/2, is also a strong contender having shown consistent performances this season.
Oscar Piastri and Carlos Sainz Jr are the dark horses, with odds of 9/1 and 16/1 respectively, while Sergio Perez follows at 18/1. Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, both seasoned champions, are considered long shots at 66/1 but their experience and skill mean they can never be counted out.
With the engines roaring and the world's attention turning to Monaco, the stage is set for one of the most thrilling and picturesque events in sports this weekend. Browse all of our Formula 1 markets here. Odds correct at time of publication but subject to change
