British & Irish Lions vs Australia 3rd Test Tips

Having secured the series with a dramatic victory in the second Test, the British & Irish Lions will be hoping to land another win against Australia in the third Test and complete a whitewash for the first time since the 1927 tour of Argentina.

Last weekend's encounter at the MCG was shrouded in controversy due to a clear out at a ruck, which was deemed legal by the officials, before Hugo Keenan crossed over the whitewash in the dying seconds.

The Wallabies will be after revenge for that defeat and the clash at Stadium Australia on Saturday could turn out to be another thrilling encounter decided by the fine margins.

Lions head coach Andy Farrell has made two changes to his starting XV, with Blair Kinghorn replacing James Lowe on the left wing and James Ryan coming into the second row for Ollie Chessum.

Australia have made four alterations, with Tom Hooper replacing the injured Rob Valetini at flanker and tighthead prop Taniela Tupou coming in for Allan Alaalatoa.

Nic White starts at scrum-half in what will be his last appearance before retiring from international rugby, he takes over from Jake Gordon, while Dylan Pietsch comes in for the injured Harry Potter on the wing.

TIP 1 - BRITISH & IRISH LIONS TO WIN BY 1-12 POINTS @ 7/5

It has been an enthralling series Down Under and the Lions find themselves on the cusp of making history, as they aim to complete the first clean sweep since beating Argentina 4-0 way back in 1927.

Both Tests have been competitive. Australia's late rally was not enough in the opening match as they went down 27-19, before the Wallabies impressed for long periods but gave up a 23-5 lead to lose by a narrow margin in the second Test, eventually going down 29-26.

The big moments have all gone the way of the Lions so far and they look capable of picking up plenty more points in Sydney, despite there not being too much to choose between the sides.

Another Lions victory by 1-12 points, a bet that has landed in five of their last six games, appeals again.

TIP 2 - DAN SHEEHAN TO SCORE A TRY @ 11/8

While both Australia and the Lions are blessed with plenty of creative, attacking players in the backs, it is the forwards that have shone the brightest and, in particular, Ireland hooker Dan Sheehan.

A rock at the front of the scrum, the 26-year-old has touched down twice, once in each Test, and he is currently tied with teammate Tom Curry in the tryscorer charts for the series.

With fellow Irishmen Andrew Porter and Tadhg Furlong either side of him in the front row, that familiarity has helped Sheehan play to his potential and he can cross the whitewash for the third Test in a row.

TIP 3 - OVER 5.5 TOTAL TRIES @ 7/5

Tries have not been in short supply in this series, with six shared equally in the first Test before the Lions then outscored Australia 5-3 in the second Test.

Australia won't want to go down without a fight and they will, of course, be eager to avoid a series whitewash, so expect them to put on another solid attacking performance.

The same is also expected of the Lions, who are on the cusp of making history and will be looking to add a few more tries to their tally of eight.
