Wales vs France Six Nations Betting Tips
The two teams that finished at opposite ends of the Six Nations table last year meet at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday, as Wales and France clash in Cardiff.
There’s a strong chance that these two nations finish in the same positions this time around, especially when you consider their displays on the opening week of the tournament.
Wales’ recent struggles continued, as they fell to a 48-7 defeat to England at Twickenham, while Les Bleus started their campaign with an impressive home win over Ireland.
You have to go back to 2019 for the last time Wales beat France and it looks extremely unlikely that run will come to an end on Sunday.
Wales vs France Betting Tips
Galthie’s troops can ease to Cardiff success
Handicap: France -30.5 @ 17/20
Having won the trophy last year, all eyes were on France in their opener with Ireland to see whether they could build on their 2025 success and if a potential Grand Slam was on the cards.
Fabien Galthie’s squad were impressive in their comfortable opening weekend success, racking up 22 unanswered points in the first half. The defending champions went on to beat Ireland 36-14, running in five tries including a brace for winger Louis Bielle-Biarrey.
Two days later, Wales were suffering a heavy 41-point defeat to England, which led to more talk of another wooden spoon.
Steve Tandy’s men were outplayed at Twickenham and it’s now coming up to three years since their last win in the Six Nations.
It’s not just the defeats causing concern for the coach, it’s also the number of points being conceded, with Wales having leaked 173 across their last three internationals.
Tandy is a former British and Irish Lions defence coach, so he will be focussing on making improvements, but a week is not enough to see any major changes.
Wales conceded 16 penalties and picked up four yellow cards at Twickenham and a repeat of that ill discipline against France will lead to another embarrassing defeat.
France look for eight in a row
Winning Margin - France to win by 41-50 points @ 5/1
The 2019 World Cup quarter-final was the last time Wales beat France in a competitive fixture, with their last win over Les Bleus in Cardiff coming a year earlier.
Since that success in Japan, France have won seven on the bounce against Sunday’s opponents and the gap has gotten wider in recent years.
Following a 13-9 win in 2022, the French have easily disposed of Wales in their next three match-ups, running in 40+ points in each of those fixtures.
The aggregate score for those last three meetings is 129-52 in France’s favour, with Galthie’s men winning 43-0 at the Stade de France 12 months ago.
Bielle-Biarrey also scored two tries in that victory and it would be no surprise to see the Bordeaux man cross the whitewash on more than one occasion this weekend.
