UFC FIGHT NIGHT 273 BETTING TIPS: CANADIANS TO CLEAN HOUSE

UFC Fight Night 273 heads north of the border for the first time this year as the spotlight turns to the Canadian’s – none more primed for success than Mike Malott in his first main event against a skidding Gilbert Burns.

Tip 1 – Malott by KO, TKO or DQ @ 17/20

Take nothing away from Gilbert Burns (22-9-0) and the near 12 years he’s spent as an active member of the roster – but trends are trends, and losing four straight is never a good look.

‘Durinho’s’ style has long relied on fast-twitch movement and an uncanny level of durability, but at nearly 40 years old, the Brazilian’s powers are clearly on the decline if not completely sapped at this point.

Losses to Belal Muhammad, Jack Della Maddalena, Michael Morales and Sean Brady suggest he can no longer hang with the top five at welterweight.

How he fares against the rising Mike Malott (13-2-1) feels just as telling.

Malott has only lost once in the UFC – to Neil Magny at UFC 297 back in 2024 – but has since strung together three-straight wins while plugging the sort of gaps in his game that would sink most fighters.

The Canadian is at his best when applying pressure in grappling exchanges that culminate in an effective ground-and-pound; the kind of pressure we just don’t see Burns surviving at this point in time.

Our main event pick is a ‘Proper’ Mike Malott TKO within five rounds.

Tip 2 – Jourdain by submission @ 7/1

There are few bantamweights as exciting as Kyler Phillips (12-4-0).

‘The Matrix’ is as much a descriptor as it is a nickname – a reflection of how seamless the American looks inside the Octagon when he finds his flow, as many have learned the hard way.

His speed, agility and positioning allow him to throw punches, elbows and kicks from a variety of angles, making him a threat to anyone who dares engage within striking distance.

So, how do you combat that if you’re Charles Jourdain (17-8-1)?

Simple, you get to the second round.

Phillips often chases the spectacular but struggles to capitalise at the right moments, with his momentum tending to fall off a cliff once the fight moves into the latter stages.

‘Air’ is an expert marksman in his own right – someone more than capable of picking off his opponents with precision power shots – but it’s his trademark guillotine choke Phillips will need to watch out for.

Jourdain’s last three wins have come via that devastating move; four when counting what happens Sunday.

Tip 3 – Jasudavicius by decision @ 7/10

Jasmine Jasudavicius (14-4-0) and Karine Silva (19-6-0) both lost their last fights, with the former suffering a crushing defeat to Manon Fiorot — a result that ended her five-fight win streak and halted her title aspirations.

It’s the weight of that loss – coupled with the clear weaknesses Silva has shown – that leads us to back the Canadian to have her hand raised by decision in Winnipeg.

‘Killer’ is a scrambler in the truest of senses – an explosive athlete capable of putting anyone to the sword, particularly from a vertical base where she can generate serious power through her fists.

But she isn’t invincible, as Maycee Barber showed in her decision victory over the Brazilian back in December.

To beat the bully you must be a bully yourself, and Jasudavicius certainly fits the profile as someone more than capable of pushing back just as hard if not harder.

What’s done is done, so if Jasudavicius wants to climb the rankings she needs to get back to winning ways, and win she will.
