Islam Makhachev Insight: Russian Mauler’s First Fight of 2026
Few have a record as stacked as Islam Makhachev (28-1-0), who has still only been bested once – to Adriano Martins at UFC 192 over a decade ago – going on to win 16 straight in the promotion.
This will be the Russian sambo specialist’s first fight of the year after claiming the Welterweight crown against Jack Della Maddalena in New York, in what should be a rather tough test for the 34-year-old against the bigger, younger challenger.
Makhachev walks in the favourite but don’t act too surprised if this turns out to be a little less one-sided than some of his previous performances.
Has father time finally caught up to one of the best to ever do it?

Ian Machado Garry Insight: ‘The Future’ Welterweight Champion?
Ian Machado Garry (17-1-0) has more than earned what is to be his first UFC title shot in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Like the champ, ‘the Future’ has but one blemish on his UFC record – in a hard-fought losing effort to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 – not that this should deter him in Philadelphia, a city that loves a good underdog story.
From Belal Muhammad to Carlos Prates, Machado Garry has faced some of the meanest mugs the division has to offer.
A win over Makhachev would top them all, and not out of the realms of possibility being almost six years younger and holding a noticeable height and reach advantage.
UFC 330 Main Event Bet: Fight to Go The Distance @ 16/25
We’ve seen enough of Machado Garry to know he wouldn’t come into this with anything other than full belief in himself and his abilities, and with the right game plan, can make it a very long night for the Welterweight champion.
Perhaps even going on to earn it for himself if he can put in a similar shift to what we saw against Muhammed, Prates and even Rakhmonov, despite losing that one.
Makhachev is obviously Makhachev and can end any fight in an instant, both on the ground and from a standstill as he’s proven time and time again – no matter how long the gaps in between fights seem to get.
We expect both to shine in moments here with neither finishing it within the allocated five rounds.
Who has their arm raised from that point is for you to predict, but if you like underdog stories, Machado Garry has a lot of upside at 5/2.
UFC 330 Best Bets Across The Card
Alongside the main event, there's plenty of value to be found further down the card:
- Dern by Decision vs Robertson @ 13/8: Mackenzie Dern's world-class jiu-jitsu against Gillian Robertson's relentless wrestling and top control makes for an interesting back-and-forth, but one decided by the scorecards, with the Strawweight champ retaining.
- Abdul-Malik by TKO/KO vs Stoltzfus @ 11/10: Coming off a first career loss, Mansur Abdul-Malik has every incentive to make a knockout statement, and Dustin Stoltzfus' tendency to fade under pressure gives him a clear route to do so at UFC 330.
- Over 1.5 Rounds - Barboza vs Ribovics @ 3/4: With multiple experts favouring a finish in the second or third rather than the first, and others leaning towards a decision, this looks like a fight that takes some time to break.
