This article answers frequently asked questions regarding common sports betting scenarios, including player changes, event disruptions, and bet settlements.
What is Golden Sub? With Golden Sub, if you place a bet on a qualifying player-based market, your selection will automatically carry over to the replacement player if your original choice is substituted. Golden Sub is available on select football markets only.
Who can take part? The promotion is available to new and existing customers aged 18 or over with a registered BetMGM UK account. The offer applies to both pre-match and in-play bets. Bets using a free bet will also qualify for Golden Sub.
How do I place a Golden Sub bet?
- Step 1: Look out for the Golden Sub icon, which can be easily found on the main football page or on specific fixture pages.
- Step 2: The icon will appear in your betslip, confirming that your chosen player-based selection is covered by Golden Sub.
- Step 3: Within 'My Bets', your active selection will display the Golden Sub icon.
- Step 4: If your player is substituted, the incoming player will automatically appear in your 'My Bets' tab, replacing the originally chosen player.
- Step 5: All winning bets will be credited as part of normal bet settlement. If your replacement player wins the bet, it will be settled at full-time.
What type of bet does it apply to? Golden Sub is available on singles, multiples, and Bet Builder bets. Is the offer available pre-match and in-play? Yes, the offer is available both pre-match and in-play.
What competitions will Golden Sub be available on? Golden Sub is available on all football markets and competitions where the Golden Sub icon is displayed.
What happens if more than one substitute comes on at the same time? The substitute that replaces your player will be officially determined by Opta data.
Can I cash out my bet when the substitute comes on? Yes, Cash Out will remain available for the duration of the match, subject to standard market availability.
What happens if my sub is subbed off? Your bet will carry over to the next substitute who replaces them. The player you originally backed will remain visible in your betslip, while the active replacement player will be updated in your 'My Bets' tab.
Does Golden Sub apply to Extra Time? No. Golden Sub applies to the 90 minutes of normal time only, which includes any added stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are not included.
When will my bet be settled? Bets will be settled following the conclusion of normal time (90 minutes plus stoppage time).
Are winnings paid out in full? Yes, winning bets that have Golden Sub applied will be paid out in full as cash.

General BetMGM T&Cs
1.1. A valid BetMGM account is required and you must be aged 18+. Employees, partners and affiliates of BetMGM are not eligible.
