Lionel Messi has won the Ballon d’Or a record eight times with three different clubs: Barcelona, PSG and Inter Miami.
Cristiano Ronaldo is second on the list with five wins, followed by Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten with three each.
The oldest player to win the award was Blackpool’s Stanley Matthews in 1956. He was 41 years and 10 months old when he won the first edition of the Ballon d’Or.
In contrast, the youngest winner was Ronaldo Nazario, who was just 21 years and three months when he won it in 1997 – the first of his two wins.
