NFL Week 8 Tips

This has been one of the most unpredictable NFL seasons in recent memory and it is shaping up to be a real thriller as the halfway point approaches.

The Los Angeles Chargers and Minnesota Vikings kick off Week 8 on Thursday Night Football, while Sunday sees a box-office clash between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers, along with the Philadelphia Eagles looking to avenge their recent loss to the New York Giants when those two face off again.

Here are four of the best bets for the upcoming games, with two picks from the early Sunday games and two from the later ones - on what should be another enthralling week of action.

TIP 1 – UNDER 40.5 TOTAL POINTS @ 22/25

New England Patriots vs Cleveland Browns (Sunday 5:00pm BST)

The New England Patriots are fresh from a 3-0 road trip which has propelled them to the top of the AFC East and they will fancy their chances against the Cleveland Browns, who are 2-5 despite a blowout win over the Miami Dolphins last time out.

The Browns have one of the best defenses in the league, limiting their opponents to 3.3 yards per rush. With Myles Garrett leading their pass rush, they are a seriously elite defensive unit.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said when they have the ball, they have scored just 113 points in seven games and only three teams have fewer touchdowns.

Against a Patriots team on the up, this could be another low-scoring affair.

TIP 2 – ATLANTA FALCONS -7 @ 17/20

Atlanta Falcons vs Miami Dolphins (Sunday 5:00pm BST)

The Miami Dolphins have had a dismal season and it does not look set to get any better when they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Miami has the worst rushing defense in the league, allowing 159.3 yards per game, and they face the dangerous Bijan Robinson, who has the fifth-most rushing yards in the NFL.

The Dolphins have lost by 25, 10 and three in their three road games this year and have been bad on both sides of the ball, the Falcons are fancied to cover the spread.

TIP 3 – TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS -4.5 @ 22/25

New Orleans Saints vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday 8:05pm BST)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fell to a tough loss to the Detroit Lions on Monday but should be able to bounce back against the New Orleans Saints this weekend.

Baker Mayfield has worked wonders with an injury-hit team this season and despite another injury to Mike Evans, they should be too strong for these opponents.

The Saints are 1-6 and were beaten 26-14 by the Chicago Bears last time out. New Orleans are 2-5 against the spread this season and that bad run looks set to continue. Take Tampa Bay -4.5.

TIP 4 – OVER 49.5 TOTAL POINTS @ 22/25

Denver Broncos vs Dallas Cowboys (Sunday 8:25pm BST)

The Denver Broncos were involved in a wild shootout against the New York Giants last time out, as they came back from 19-0 down in the fourth quarter to narrowly win 33-32.

They face a Dallas Cowboys team who have been rock solid, with quarterback Dak Prescott in particular catching the eye. He has become just the fourth quarterback ever to throw at least three passing touchdowns and no interceptions in four consecutive games.

With Bo Nix also impressing for the Broncos, expect this to be a Sunday night gunslinger’s showdown which goes over the total.
