England vs West Indies ODI Series Betting Tips
England have struggled in ODI cricket recently, suffering early exits at the 2023 World Cup in India and this year's Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
Harry Brook has been appointed as their new 50-over captain, replacing Jos Buttler, and Brook's men face the West Indies in a three-match series which starts on Thursday.
The Windies have also been at a low ebb in this format, failing to qualify for the World Cup or the Champions Trophy, and they are aiming to upset their hosts in the first ODI at Edgbaston.
Team news
England fast bowler Gus Atkinson (hamstring) has joined fellow injured pacemen Jofra Archer, Mark Wood and OIly Stone on the sidelines.
Liam Livingstone and Phil Salt have been left out of the ODI squad but spinner Tom Hartley has earned a recall and Jos Buttler, Will Jacks and Jacob Bethell are available after returning early from the IPL.
The West Indies are missing Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd, who will be involved in the IPL playoffs, but batsman Shimron Hetmyer has joined the squad after missing the ODI series in Ireland.
Tip 1 – Ben Duckett to be England top runscorer in first ODI @ 33/10
England have lost 10 of their last 11 ODIs but they are just 1/10 to win the three-match home series against the West Indies.
After Thursday's first ODI at Edgbaston, the teams head to Cardiff's Sophia Gardens on Sunday and the series concludes at The Oval on Tuesday.
England's international summer began with an innings victory over Zimbabwe in the one-off Test at Trent Bridge, where Ben Duckett scored his fifth Test century.
The opener has also nailed down a place at the top of the order in 50-over cricket and his innings of 165 against Australia was a rare highlight in England's tough Champions Trophy campaign.
Duckett scored 32, 65 and 34 in three ODIs in India in February before knocks of 38 and 24 in his other two Champions Trophy appearances.
The left-hander looked in superb touch against Zimbabwe and he had a terrific home ODI series against the Aussies last summer, making 95, 32, eight, 63 and 107.
Duckett's last ODI against the Windies saw him top-score with 71 from number four in Bridgetown in December 2023 and he can lead England's charge in the series opener.
Tip 2 – Keacy Carty to score over 22.5 runs in first ODI @ Evens
West Indies number three Keacy Carty scored 102 and 170 in last week's second and third ODIs against Ireland in Dublin and England's bowlers have already witnessed his quality at first hand.
Carty's unbeaten 128 off 114 balls sealed his side's 2-1 series victory over England last December and he also struck 71 off 77 deliveries in the second ODI.
After a modest start to his international career, he had an excellent 2024, beginning with knocks of 88 and 40 against world champions Australia in Melbourne and Sydney.
Carty's last series before the tour of Ireland was against Bangladesh, in which he made 21, 45 and 95, and he could be backed to score over 22.5 runs at Edgbaston.
