Atletico vs Real Madrid Betting Tips: Seven in Seven for Alonso?
One of club football’s fiercest and most celebrated rivalries, the Madrid Derby writes its 177th La Liga chapter on Saturday afternoon as Atletico host Real.
And we’ve lined up three show-stopping tips for the occasion…
Tip 1 – Kylian Mbappe over 2.5 shots on target @ 12/5
When forwards are in form, the world tends to take notice.
Mbappe, seventh in the men’s Ballon d’Or, also has seven goals to his name so far in La Liga, the most of any player across all of Europe’s top leagues going into the weekend.
And that’s not even counting the brace he netted against Marseille in Real’s opening Champions League clash.
These goals have been pivotal in maintaining Los Blancos’ six-game winning streak in the Spanish top flight, which bodes well for manager Xabi Alonso even beyond this Madrid Derby if this is only the beginning of what’s to come.
The World Cup 2018 winner is 12/5 to have over 2.5 shots on target against Atletico – a decent return for an undoubtedly world-class player who has averaged 2.17 shots on target per game so far in La Liga, with 10 shots on target in his last five domestic games.
He’s someone France has called upon in many big moments… it makes strong sense to call on him here against one of Madrid’s storied rivals.
Tip 2 – Marcos Llorente to get a card @ 23/10
Of course, when forwards are in form defenders trying to stop them also get booked.
Three players picked up a yellow card in the 1-1 draw between these two sides last season, with Marcos Llorente going one step further by being sent off for a reckless tackle in the 99th minute.
The Spanish defender has already picked up two yellow cards this season – joint highest for Atletico Madrid – and will likely be deployed in the backline for Diego Simeone’s side up against a lot of pressure.
Mbappe has won eight fouls already this season and, with Llorente guarding that side, it looks all the more likely he will pick up a yellow for his troubles in this one.
Llorente is priced currently at 23/10 to receive another yellow card in what is sure to be a highly contentious game with plenty of booking points across the board, as is tradition with this fixture producing four bookings on average over the last two seasons.
Tip 3 – Real Madrid to win, both teams to score, over 2.5 goals & over 10.5 total corners @ 24/5
The Madrid Derby never fails to entertain, especially when it comes to action in front of goal with both teams converting at least once for their respective side in every game since 2022 in La Liga.
It’s partly what makes this Golden Combo of 24/5 for Real Madrid to win, both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and over 10.5 total corners so appealing.
Corners are likely to be plentiful too: in the last three Madrid derbies, both teams combined for an average of 12.3 corners per game.
Expect plenty of wing play, set-piece opportunities, and defences committing to block shots, all contributing to a high corner count.
While their previous three encounters have ended in a 1-1 draw, Real are seemingly in unstoppable form at the moment while Atletico are getting up to speed not only with their city rivals but the rest of the league.
Over 2.5 goals has landed in five of Real’s last seven games and in two of Atletico’s last three, pointing to another lively derby with Los Blancos going on to make it seven wins in seven.
