FIFA Club World Cup: Group B Tips

Group B of the Club World Cup features two European heavyweights, including European champions PSG.

This pool is a top-heavy one, with PSG as short as 1/4 to qualify, while Atletico Madrid aren’t far behind at 2/5.

Brazilian side Botafogo are outsiders to make the knockout round, while MLS outfit Seattle Sounders are expected to struggle.

With two huge European sides drawing the attention, Group B is 9/2 to provide the side that lifts the new Club World Cup trophy in July.

Tip 1 – Atletico Madrid to win Group B @ 6/4

Atletico Madrid are trailing PSG in the group betting, but they could pose a problem for the European champions.

Diego Simeone’s side saw a promising 2024/25 campaign quickly go off the rails, with their Champions League exit to Real Madrid being followed by damning La Liga and Copa del Rey losses to Barcelona.

However, Simeone’s side did enough early in the campaign to suggest they can push PSG in this competition. Their first half of the campaign was stellar, topping La Liga after 19 matches. They finished fifth in the expanded Champions League opening stage, winning six of eight matches.

Among those victories was a 2-1 success at PSG, showing they can challenge the French side. It could also suit Atletico to take on PSG first, with Luis Enrique’s side coming off the back of their Champions League win.

Atletico were able to wind down their season while staying competitive, easing to a top four finish in La Liga. With their mix of defensive strength and a refreshed forward line, Atleti are good value to surprise PSG by pipping them to top spot.

Tip 2 – Alexander Sorloth to score anytime vs PSG @ 49/20

Another reason that Atletico are a tempting outsider in this tournament is the form of forward Alexander Sorloth. While Julian Alvarez hit the ground running, Sorloth took his time to settle in the Spanish capital.

Sorloth surged towards the end of the season to finish as Atletico’s top scorer in La Liga, something he did in 2024 when he snatched the golden boot late in the campaign.

Sorloth scored nine times in his final eight league games, while he continued that good record with a strike against Italy for Norway.

Sorloth heads into the tournament in form, so you could back him to score anytime at 49/20.

Tip 3 – Seattle Sounders draw no bet vs Botafogo @ 19/10

Seattle Sounders are seen as outsiders in Group B, but they do have home advantage for all three matches. While that might not be enough to see them hurt the European sides, it sets them up for a strong start against Botafogo.

The Brazilian side are enjoying a solid domestic campaign, but they have struggled on the road so far. Their only away win in the league came at third-bottom Santos, while they’ve scored one goal across six trips.

Defeats at Bragantino, Bahia, and Atletico MG suggest Botafogo may struggle against a Seattle side playing at home. The Sounders have lost only once at their own ground in MLS this season, winning five of their eight games.

Given their good record at Lumen Field, Seattle are a tempting price in the Draw No Bet market.
