LAURA WOODS: ‘CRAZY’ TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD NOT BEING PICKED FOR ENGLAND

TRENT SHOULD BE IN ENGLAND SQUAD

Trent Alexander-Arnold should be in the England squad at the very least, especially considering how many players Thomas Tuchel picked.

He plays for Real Madrid! How can we not take him?

I went to their game against Manchester City, where they won 3-0, and Trent was brilliant. He worked hard and he defended, which is always the biggest criticism against him.

I also think if you have a solid defence then you can let him go forward and play those amazing passes – let Trent do what Trent does best. England will need that at the World Cup.

You don’t have to play him every game. It’s horses for courses but leaving him out entirely is crazy to me.

Imagine his Real Madrid team-mates learning he’s being left behind by England. He’s not had the best start at Madrid but he’s also had injuries and it’s a lot moving abroad.

It’s madness not to even include him. For his passing range alone he should be on that plane.

DE ZERBI SHOULDN’T WANT SPURS JOB

Where do you even start with Spurs?

I said when Thomas Frank left that they needed to get the next one right – and they haven’t.

The damage these losses and performances have done could be the end of their Premier League status next season.

I thought they were valiant in the second leg against Atletico Madrid but that was even more frustrating because of the way the first leg was handled.

There were ‘encouraging signs’ against Liverpool but to lose 3-0 to a relegation rival, Nottingham Forest, at home last time was just unacceptable.

They are one point above West Ham with seven games to go. They are so close to being relegated and I honestly can’t even believe it.

They’re a mess and it will take something special to pull them out of it. I’m not sure Roberto De Zerbi should want that job. He is a great manager but he could end up in the Championship! I wouldn’t touch it if I were him.

So, for me, it’s a safe pair of hands to guide them through this time. I don’t know who that is though.

Could De Zerbi get the best out of them? Yes, he probably could because they’d respect him and he’d come with a plan and hold them all to account.

So perhaps that’s a challenge he wants but, other than the stadium, there is nothing attractive about that job.
