Megan Nicholls Racing Preview: Cheltenham November Meeting Day Three Tips
SUNDAY RACING TIPS
Cheltenham 1.45 – Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase
Jordans Cross (7/2) for Anthony Honeyball is who I’ve come down on here.
He’s nicely weighted with only 10st8lb on his back and looks versatile with regards to the ground. The return at Aintree was good as he got the job done nicely enough despite taking a bit of time to warm up.
He’s up six pounds but he looks to still be on the upgrade.
Megan’s Tip: Jordans Cross WIN
Cheltenham 2.20 – 2m Handicap Chase
Harry Cobden looks an interesting jockey booking on Glengouly (11/2) here.
He’s performed well on soft ground in the past, so all the rain that’s fallen at Cheltenham won’t inconvenience him. He ran solidly at Aintree last time and he should strip fitter for that with the run under his belt.
There’s been plenty of money for him already and he looks an interesting runner.
Megan’s Tip: Glengouly EW
Cheltenham 2.55 – 3m3f Handicap Hurdle
The rain has come at the right time for Protektorat (3/1 fav).
He’s got a lot of weight to carry but he’s the classy horse in the line-up and with underfoot conditions in his favour, he is the one they’ve all got to beat.
Top weights in handicaps are never a bad way to go and this looks a good bit of placing from his trainer Dan Skelton.
Megan’s Tip: Protektorat WIN
Cheltenham 3.30 – Greatwood Hurdle
The Greatwood Hurdle is always fiercely competitive and BetMGM are paying five places each-way on this year’s contest.
I’ll be backing Gibbs Island (15/2), who comes into this after bolting up at Chepstow on his first start of the season.
Last year he took well to hurdling and he’s got form on slower ground too, so there is plenty in his favour. He beat Give It To Me Oj convincingly at Haydock last February and that’s obviously looking very tidy form now.
He’s up eight pounds but he won as he liked at Chepstow and with soft ground no problem to him, he’s the one I think can take this out.
Megan’s Tip: Gibbs Island EW
