LAURA WOODS: SLOT HAS TILL CHRISTMAS TO TURN IT AROUND
SLOT SAFE FOR NOW, BUT CREDIT RUNNING OUT
Not for me, I don’t think FSG will sack Arne Slot – he has too much credit in the bank from winning the Premier League. However it’s monumental to bring in the talent they have and make a title-winning team worse.
He has the excuse of having too many new players to integrate at once, but that is an issue of Liverpool’s own doing – they didn’t need two new strikers for example.
That loss at home to Nottingham Forest was incredibly damaging though, as was the one to Manchester United. He won’t survive many more statement losses like that, but for now I do think he has time to turn things around.
If this continues after Christmas, I don’t think they’ll have any choice but to bring someone else in. Other teams will also have a chance to strengthen in the window, and they will be playing catch-up big time in the league.
I’d be more annoyed if I was Jurgen Klopp to be honest! He left Slot a brilliant team and one which went on to win the league. Now it’s been ripped up and reformed and they’re 12th.
LIVERPOOL OUT OF TITLE RACE
I think Liverpool are too far behind in the title race now. They’re currently 11 points behind Arsenal and the Gunners aren’t slowing down.
The top four is achievable, although it’s quite competitive this season. Teams like Sunderland I believe will fall away, but Manchester City are finding their feet despite the loss to Newcastle at the weekend and Chelsea are going about their business too.
Those teams and Arsenal would all have to have a complete mare for Liverpool to get a sniff of the title again now.

ARSENAL IN PRIME POSITION FOR TITLE
One sweet, sweet weekend for Arsenal and one that tells more about their mentality than ever.
Arsenal have fluffed their lines a lot in previous seasons when they’re given a chance to take hold of an advantage and run with it. Liverpool and Manchester City both lost and Arsenal put Tottenham to the sword – for us Arsenal fans, it was a beautiful watch.
I was annoyed that Spurs scored, though, and I hope Arsenal are too, because that’s the sort of perfection they should be chasing.

BAYERN GAME HUGE FOR ARSENAL’S SEASON
Arsenal can lay down a massive marker for the rest of Europe on Wednesday evening.
Bayern Munich have been a nightmare for Arsenal in Europe for what seems like forever. They’re also one of the favourites to win the Champions League – something Arsenal have still never managed.
To beat Spurs at the weekend and then Harry Kane’s Bayern a few days later would be absolutely mega and instil huge confidence they are the side to beat.
It will also give Arsenal the kind of European credibility they’ve been craving. Under Mikel Arteta, they have evolved and can handle these big clashes without the kind of nerves they used to have.
They’re confident, their defence is solid and they can hurt Bayern with set pieces where Bayern are weak. It’s also at home under the lights at the Emirates and off the back of the north London derby, so they absolutely should have the bit between their teeth.
It would be a huge statement if Arsenal can pull it off.
