Premier League: Gameweek 17 Tips: Villa can pile on the misery for City

It is Gameweek 17 of the 2025-26 Premier League season and there are eight fixtures on Saturday before Aston Villa host Manchester United on Sunday and Nottingham Forest travel to Fulham on Monday night.

We have picked out four of this weekend's best bets including selections from St James' Park, where Newcastle take on Chelsea, and the Etihad Stadium, where in-form Manchester City face West Ham.

Premier League: Gameweek 17 Betting Tips

  • Newcastle United Vs Chelsea = Draw @ 13/5
  • Manchester City Half Time/Full Time @ ⅗
  • Aston Villa to beat Man United + BTTS @ 49/20
  • Nottingham Forest to beat Fulham @ 41/20

TIP 1 - DRAW @ 13/5

Newcastle vs Chelsea (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Newcastle and Chelsea both advanced to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup this week and they kick off the Premier League weekend at St James' Park.

The Magpies are strong at home although they rarely win by a wide margin, edging past Wolves 1-0, Fulham 2-1 and Burnley 2-1 in the league this term.

They needed a late goal to clinch a 2-1 victory over Fulham in the EFL Cup quarter-finals, having suffered a disappointing 1-0 derby defeat at Sunderland last weekend.

Chelsea welcome back influential midfielder Moises Caicedo from suspension and they can pick up a point on their trip to the north-east.

TIP 2 - MANCHESTER CITY/MANCHESTER CITY HALF TIME/FULL TIME @ ⅗

Manchester City vs West Ham (Saturday, 3pm)

Manchester City also eased into the EFL Cup semis, beating Brentford 2-0 despite resting star striker Erling Haaland, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and centre-back Ruben Dias.

City have been leading at half-time and full-time in each of their last six matches in all competitions, including impressive away wins at Real Madrid in the Champions League and Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Saturday's visitors West Ham are unlikely to keep City quiet for long, having claimed only one clean sheet in 17 league and cup matches this term.

The Hammers have shown some promise recently but Aston Villa came from behind twice to win 3-2 at the London Stadium last weekend and West Ham's first-choice full-backs, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and El Hadji Malick Diouf, are away at the Africa Cup of Nations.

TIP 3 - ASTON VILLA TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE @ 49/20

Aston Villa vs Manchester United (Sunday, 3pm)

Manchester United will also be depleted by AFCON absentees as key forwards Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo are unavailable for their trip to in-form Aston Villa.

The hosts are chasing a 10th win in their last 11 league matches and they beat leaders Arsenal 2-1 in their most recent outing at Villa Park.

Both teams have scored in six of Villa's last seven victories in all competitions and their only clean sheet during that run came against bottom club Wolves.

Another high-scoring Villa win is a good bet when they face a United side who looked shaky at the back during Monday's dramatic 4-4 draw with Bournemouth.

TIP 4 - NOTTINGHAM FOREST TO WIN @ 41/20

Fulham vs Nottingham Forest (Monday, 8pm)

Nottingham Forest were resounding 3-0 victors over Tottenham last weekend and they have enjoyed a welcome break after a hectic run of Premier League and Europa League fixtures.

Sean Dyche's men have won six of their last eight games, including a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, and they can bank another three points at Fulham on Monday night.

Forest should be fresher than their hosts, who suffered a last-gasp defeat in Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final at Newcastle.

And Cottagers boss Marco Silva has lost three big players to AFCON, with attacking midfielders Alex Iwobi and Samuel Chukwueze representing Nigeria along with reliable centre-back Calvin Bassey.
