UEFA Nations League Semi-Final Betting Tips
Four of the top 10 teams in the world meet in the semi-finals of the Nations League, with Germany, Portugal, France and Spain battling it out to be crowned winners on June 8th.
The two semi-finals will take place on Wednesday, June 4th and Thursday June 5th, to whet the appetite ahead of next summer’s World Cup finals.
Tip 1 - Germany to win and BTTS @ 12/5
Germany v Portugal (Weds, 8pm)
The Allianz Arena will play host to the first-semi final and home advantage could be key for Germany, as they prepare to take on a dangerous Portugal side.
Julian Nagelsmann’s men go into this clash unbeaten in their last eight games, which includes wins over Italy and the Netherlands.
Portugal head to Munich having failed to win any of their last three Nations League away games, with a defeat and two draws.
In contrast, Roberto Martinez’s squad have won all four of their home fixtures and scored 14 goals in the process.
Germany have enjoyed the upper hand in recent meetings between the two sides, winning all of their last five meetings.
Their last encounter came back in 2021, when Germany ran out 4-2 victors at the European Championships, when Arsenal’s Kai Havertz was amongst the scorers.
The hosts are missing several key players through injury, including Jamal Musiala and Antonio Rudiger, but they do have other top names ready to fill the breach.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is back and confirmed to start in goal, while Joshua Kimmich will make his 100th appearance for his country.
It remains to be season if PSG trio João Neves, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha will feature for Portugal, having been involved in their club’s Champions League success.
Tip 2 - Spain to win in 90 mins @ 27/20
Spain v France (Thurs, 8pm)
This tournament has certainly been to Spain’s liking, with them having won it in 2023 and finished runners-up in 2021.
The European champions head into Thursday’s clash with France in Stuttgart unbeaten in their last 18 internationals - Colombia were the last team to beat them, back in March 2024.
France head into this match having suffered three defeats in their last nine games, including a 2-1 loss to Spain at the Euros.
Les Bleus did win their last Nations League meeting 2-1 back in 2021, but Spain have the edge in the overall head-to-head stats, winning 17 of their 37 games, with France winning 13.
One major concern hanging over the World Cup runners-up is how much the Champions League final has taken out of some of their players.
No fewer than seven of the France squad were involved in last Saturday’s Inter Milan v PSG clash, including Ousmane Dembele, Marcus Thuram and Desire Doue.
Spain might still be without long-term absentees Rodri and Dani Carvajal, but their talented bunch of young players look set to play a key role.
Real Madrid-bound Dean Huijsen is one man likely to feature, while the likes of Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Pedri will look to make their mark on the tournament.
Recent fixtures for these two teams suggest there will be goals in Thursday’s semi-final.
There have been over 3.5 goals in each of Spain’s last five, while there have been two or more goals in eight of France’s last nine internationals.
