PSG vs Tottenham UEFA Super Cup Tips

A match-up most would have thought highly unlikely in the closing stages of last season takes centre stage to kick off this campaign as Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain take on Europa League champions Tottenham.

PSG were the darlings of the footballing world following their 5-0 dismantling of Inter in the Champions League final back in May. Tottenham, meanwhile, had an unforgettable season themselves, sealing European glory to end a wait of more than 50 years for a continental title.

Can new Spurs manager Thomas Frank inspire his team to be more than the sum of their parts? Or will Luis Enrique’s PSG machine prove too strong?

Below, we pick out our top three tips for the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday 13th August (8pm).

Tip 1 – PSG to score over 3.5 goals @ 29/10

Frank is a very good manager, but he won’t be able to work wonders overnight.

The first serious pre-season test for Spurs saw them lose 4-0 to Bayern Munich, one of the only sides who could claim to be on a level even close to PSG at the moment.

Look back to last year and, outside the bottom three, only Wolves (65) conceded more goals than Tottenham’s 54.

Spurs have looked better at the back during pre-season – including a creditable clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Arsenal – but, like the Bayern match, their opponents here represent a different task entirely.

PSG scored four or more goals three times during their run to the Club World Cup final. Backing them to do it again here could be a valuable play.

Tip 2 – Fabian Ruiz to score anytime @ 22/5

The Spanish midfielder is always worth a bet to find the net.

He likes to get forward and, though his return of four goals in 30 games across the campaign doesn’t scream prolific, he’s shown a propensity to pop up with big goals when it matters; he has goals against Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in his locker from last term alone, providing a fine example of his eye for goal.

He also finds himself up the pitch more often than not, despite his position as a deep-lying midfielder. He excels in ball progression and chance creation – at Euro 2024, he was among the top five players for big chances created, showing his offensive creativity. Ruiz’s experience could exploit the defensive lapses Tottenham can sometimes display in high-stakes, fast-paced games such as the Super Cup.

Tip 3 – Over 4.5 cards in the game @ 29/20

This is much more of a vibes pick but the French champions showed their ill discipline at times during the Club World Cup, receiving a competition-high three red cards over the course of the tournament.

The last three competitive games involving Tottenham have spawned 14 cards for an average of 4.6 per game, while PSG’s last three have averaged five.

This 2025/26 season curtain-raiser could be a feisty affair and, as a result, over 4.5 cards at 29/20 makes strong appeal.
