Singapore Grand Prix Betting Tips: Norris to shine in Singapore
For the first time in almost a year neither McLaren driver was on the podium at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, but the World Constructors’ Championship winners elect are expected to bounce back in the humid conditions of the Singapore Grand Prix.
Tip 1 – Lando Norris to win @ 19/10
After an almost flawless season, Oscar Piastri suffered an error-strewn weekend around the streets of Baku, first putting in a poor showing in qualifying before jumping the race start, anti-stalling and then crashing out on turn six of the first lap.
This marked the end of a 44-race streak of scoring points, but team-mate Lando Norris could not make as much headway as he might have liked as he chases Piastri in the World Drivers’ Championship, failing to improve on his qualifying position and coming home seventh.
However, the Marina Bay Street Circuit poses a very different test for car and driver alike, with the high-downforce set-up favoured in Singapore playing to McLaren’s strengths and putting them in prime position to bounce back.
This may be to the detriment of Max Verstappen, who has won the last two Grands Prix but has struggled around previous high-downforce tracks this season, including a ninth place finish at the recent Hungarian Grand Prix.
The result may be a two-horse race between the two McLaren drivers, and Lando Norris looks good value to get his nose in front.
The Briton has finished ahead of Piastri in five of the last seven races and Singapore was the scene of one of his four race wins last season.
Norris has won in the slow-speed, high-downforce tracks of Monaco and Hungary this season, and he knows the victories need to start flowing if he is to maintain his championship battle.
Tip 2 – Ferrari to win the fastest pit stop award @ 9/10
Ferrari’s race strategy team has, understandably, come under fire in recent years, but one area of the Scuderia garage that has lived up to the billing is the pit crew.
They lead the DHL Fastest Pit Stop award rankings with 455 points, with McLaren second best and some 199 points adrift of them.
They have achieved the fastest pitstop in nine of the 17 Grands Prix so far and have been placed in the top three in four of the eight races in which they haven’t won the award.
Ferrari are also one of only two constructors to claim the two fastest pit stops in a single race, with the Maranello-based side doing so on three occasions.
Only four of Ferrari’s pitstops this season have gone over three seconds, and just one of those topped three-and-a-half seconds. For reference, Racing Bulls are next best in that regard, with seven stops over three seconds.
The result is an average pitstop time of just 2.42 seconds, over two-tenths quicker than the second-best Racing Bulls, and the team look good value to increase their lead at the top of the standings this weekend.
