Houston Open Golf Betting Tips
It is just a fortnight until the first Major of the year, The Masters, and competition should be fierce at this week's Houston Open, with an invite to Augusta still up for grabs for the winner on Sunday.
Attention was expected to focus on Scottie Scheffler in his home state as he has finished runner-up in three of his last four visits to Memorial Park, but the world number one has withdrawn as he awaits the arrival of his second child.
Australian Min Woo Lee will defend his title on a course which tends to suit big hitters, although the distinct slopes will provide a good test for those with one eye on capturing the Green Jacket next month.
Koepka still has a point to prove
Tip 1 – Brooks Koepka each-way @ 20/1
One of the most interesting storylines on the PGA Tour heading into the year was how Brooks Koepka would adapt after returning from LIV Golf and there are signs that a victory may not be too far away.
It was maybe understandable that it took him a little while to get back into the swing of things after a 56th place at the Farmers Insurance Open and a missed cut in Phoenix, but he has been bubbling under since.
He was ninth at the Cognizant Classic, 13th at the Players Championship and 18th at last week's Valspar Championship, so the signs are there.
While he missed the cut on his last visit to Memorial Park in 2022, he was fifth the year before when his third-round 65 was the best of the day and he matched that score 24 hours later.
Koepka will be keen to make his mark at Augusta, where he was runner-up in 2019 and 2023, and he would love to head down Magnolia Lane in a fortnight with a win under his belt.
Penge comfortable at new level
Tip 2 – Marco Penge each-way @ 28/1
England's Marco Penge has made the step up from the DP World Tour and has been making enough waves over the last three months to suggest he may not have to wait long for a first PGA Tour win.
His 16th at the Genesis Invitational at Riviera was an encouraging showing and while he missed the cut at the Players, his fourth at the Valspar will leave him feeling he can make his mark among this sort of company.
He is ranked first on Tour in strokes-gained off the tee and this could be a week where power comes to the fore, so don't discount the man who triumphed in three DP World Tour events in 2025.
Jaeger hitting form at right time
Tip 3 – Stephan Jaeger each-way @ 50/1
One player who loves this venue is Germany's Stephan Jaeger and he has shown signs of form just as he prepares for his return to Houston.
Jaeger has flourished at Memorial Park, finishing ninth in 2023 and then coming through to win by one shot the following year when he held off a five-man challenge, which included Scheffler.
A finish of 11th 12 months ago was a decent defence after a slow start and he came to life with a strong second half at Copperhead last week.
That seventh spot should have been another big confidence boost after he was fifth at the Farmers Insurance, so he could be in for another big week.
