Kempton Lanzarote Hurdle Betting Tips
The Lanzarote Hurdle takes centre stage at Kempton on Saturday and the Grade 2 Silviniaco Conti Chase is another feature. Five other supporting races make it a busy day at the Surrey venue and punters are in for a treat.
Here are tips for all seven races at Kempton, including the big handicap at 2.42.
12.20pm – Play Coral 'Racing-Super-Series' For Free Juvenile Hurdle (2m)
Limited form to go off in the opening juvenile but the vote goes to KADO DE JOIE, who gave a front-running winner too much to do when a good second on his first start for Nicky Henderson last month. The trainer often runs some of his better young horses at this track. French raider All In You and Paul Nicholls’ stable debutant Kalif Du Berlais are also respected in a race that market clues should be heeded.
Selection: Kado De Joie @ SP
12.55pm – Coral Get Closer To The Action Novices' Hurdle (2m)
Goodwin and Junkanoo are closely matched on their meeting at Plumpton in December and the former might be able to repel his old foe with Freddie Gordon’s 5lb claim negating most of the penalty he must carry in this novice. However, GENTLE SLOPES makes some appeal debuting for Nicky Henderson having reached a useful level for Milton Harris. This Listed bumper winner could take a step forward for his new yard and the long absence is of limited concern from this source.
Selection: Gentle Slopes @ SP
1.30pm – New Bet-In-Race With Coral Handicap Chase (3m)
With Tristan Durrell’s 3lb claim, FLEGMATIK is effectively 1lb better off than when he pulled well clear of the third in the 2023 Coral Trophy here. This 3m handicap chase is much weaker and the in-form nine-year-old will have conditions in his favour. Chianti Classico is a progressive type, but his stable is worryingly out of form, while the Emma Lavelle-trained De Rasher Counter is temptingly treated on old form but will be vulnerable to younger legs and might find things happening a little too quickly.
Selection: Flegmatik @ 5/2
2.07pm – Coral Silviniaco Conti Chase (Grade 2) (2m4½f)
A cracker of a Silviniaco Conti Chase. Pic D’Orhy faces much stiffer opposition than when bolting up in this last season. He wasn’t particularly impressive when winning what turned into a soft 1965 Chase on his return, while second-season chaser Banbridge might need his comeback for Joseph O’Brien, for all he could prove to be a star in this division. Preference is for EDWARDSTONE, who arrives in top form after chasing home Jonbon in the Tingle Creek last time and can raise his game over this longer trip. There are stayers in his pedigree and Kempton is the perfect place to examine his stamina.
Selection: Edwardstone @ 9/4
2.42pm – Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle (2m5f)
Impose Toi is probably well treated but looks short enough in the Lanzarote market, while Nemean Lion will surely need slower ground. Improving mare Good Look Charm has good claims for Anthony Honeyball but the 5lb claim of Beau Morgan can prove decisive aboard QUINTA DO MAR. He shaped encouragingly on his return last month on his first start following wind surgery in going more testing than he wants, and he should be in the mix with the drying ground in his favour. The cheekpieces he sported for his previous success three starts ago are also back in place.
Selection: Quinta Do Mar @ 16/1
3.15pm – Coral Racing Club Join For Free Handicap Chase (2m4½f)
PEPE LE MOKO meets largely out of form rivals in this handicap chase and is open to much more improvement on just his third start over fences. He is unlucky not to be arriving here unbeaten in this sphere and the best is surely yet to come for a youngster who has taken well to chasing. 11-year-old Le Ligerien likes it here and is not out of it for Joe Tizzard, but runs off a career-high mark and might need further assistance from the assessor.
Selection: Pepe Le Moko @ SP
3.50pm – Coral Committed To Safer-Gambling Handicap Hurdle (2m)
Caithness’s third to Impose Toi at Cheltenham when last seen in November is good form but RARE EDITION is the one to beat in the finale. He hacked up from subsequent dual Grade 2 winner Rubaud in a course-and-distance novice last December off level weights and can strip fitter for his close third at Doncaster on his reappearance four weeks ago when the subject of strong market support. The booking of title-chasing rider Harry Cobden is a positive sign and a mark of 136 surely undersells the ability of Charlie Longsdon’s lightly raced stable star, who ran in two Grade 1 novice hurdles last term.
Selection: Rare Edition @ SP
