Lingfield January All Weather

Lingfield - January All Weather Betting Tips

Lingfield stages an All-Weather Flat fixture on Saturday, with eight races scheduled from the Surrey venue, starting at 11.58am. It’s a typically competitive card in which handicaps are the main focus.

11:58 - Midnite: Built For 2026 Not 2006 Apprentice Handicap (1m2f)

There’s a suspicion that HARLINGTON is happier on Tapeta than on Polytrack, but he comes here in better form than most and makes plenty of appeal following a good run on his debut for Tom Clover at Southwell last week. The five-year-old is 3-15 on artificial surfaces and, although he’s been put up a pound for finishing second at the Nottingham track, he’s theoretically 2lb lower with a 3lb claimer taking over in the saddle.

Selection: Harlington

12:33 - Make The Move To Midnite Restricted Novice Stakes (6f)

This looks like a golden opportunity for the Amanda Perrett-trained STAR OF ALBION to get off the mark, the three-year-old well clear of his four rivals on ratings. It’s debatable whether the son of Zoustar commands his current mark of 78, but he did run to a Racing Post Rating of 77 when second over course-and-distance when last seen in September. He has first-time blinkers applied and Tom Marquand, who was aboard last time, retains the partnership.

Selection: Star Of Albion

13:08 - Always Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Handicap (5f)

Stall one is ideal for the speedy NEBROOK STAR and she could take plenty of pegging back if anywhere near full fitness on this first outing since July. The daughter of Mehmas showed scintillating early pace in first-time blinkers at Yarmouth last summer, breaking clear of the field in the process. She couldn’t hold on, fading to finish third, but it was a hugely promising effort and one that suggested a sharp 5f, on a turning track such as this, would be tailor-made for her.

Selection: Nebrook Star

13:43 - Midnite: Built For 2026 Not 2006 Handicap (5f)

This is arguably the most competitive race on the card with several holding solid claims. There’s the likelihood of a strong pace with Sam’s Xpress, Coronado King and Mick’s Spirit in the line-up, so that could well set the race up for the closers, namely TOOLATETONEGOTIATE. The dual course-and-distance winner is 6lb above his last win, but he ran to a Racing Post Rating matching this official mark here last time and could well pick up the pieces.

Selection: Toolatetonegotiate

14:14 - Midnite Aint Your Grandads Bookie Handicap (1m4f)

Simon Dow’s JACK LANGLEY saves his best for this track and looks sure to be thereabouts off bottom weight. The four-year-old has gained all three of his career wins here, most recently off a mark of 55 over 1m5f at the beginning of last month. He was arguably a bit unfortunate not to win for the third time over course-and-distance last time, held up in his run at a vital stage. He’s up another pound to 60, but this represents a very winnable race.

Selection: Jack Langley

14:48 - BetMGM Supports Safer Gambling Handicap (Division I, 7f)

It may pay to take a chance on John Butler’s veteran, GLOBAL WARNING, who although on a lengthy losing run, is on a dangerous mark and has been shaping better than the bare form figures suggests this winter. The ten-year-old is 6lb lower than his last win, which came over course-and-distance in September 2024, and would have finished significantly closer at both Southwell and here last month, but for meeting repeated traffic problems in the straight.

Selection: Global Warning

15:26 - BetMGM Supports Safer Gambling Handicap (Division II, 7f)

James Owen’s SECRET ROAD has won twice in classified company this month and, although he’s up in the weights for this return to a handicap, he’s clearly one to take very seriously. The eight-year-old has form figures of 921122 since joining this yard last month and seems to be thriving for a busy spell. This is a weak race for the grade and a repeat of his last three efforts will put him right in the mix.

Selection: Secret Road

16:00 - Midnite A Next Generation Betting App Handicap (6f)

WOODHAY WHISPER is proving rather frustrating, but she’ll be well suited by this return to 6f, having performed with credit on a rare start over 5f here last weekend. The Jack Jones-trained filly has won just two of 23 starts on the AW, though she’s regularly been in the money, finishing runner-up on six occasions and third five times. She’s never won off a mark this high, but has repeatedly run to Racing Post Ratings in excess of her current official figure of 64.

Selection: Woodhay Whisper
