Sandown Solario Stakes Day Betting Tips
It’s another Premier Raceday on Saturday afternoon and there’s Group 3 action from Sandown Park.
The feature races are the BetMGM Solario Stakes and the BetMGM Atlanta Stakes which are part of a seven-race card.
We have picked out selections for all seven races on Saturday’s card from Sandown including a couple of each-way plays.
13:50 - Sandown - Download The BetMGM App Handicap
A mightily competitive opener and with BetMGM offering four places on the race, it’s worth looking for an each-way player that represents some value.
Galeron is the one that makes the most appeal. He had an excuse when disappointing at Ascot last time but had previously shaped like a return to form may be imminent at this venue and a return to slower ground is going to suit over seven furlongs given that he stays further.
Selection: Galeron @ 11/1
14:25 - Sandown - BetMGM Atalanta Stakes
The first of the Group-race contests on the card has attracted a cracking field of 14 runners and Cathedral could be the way to go on debut for his new trainer, Kevin Philippart De Foy.
This daughter of Too Darn Hot has been holding her own at Group level since making her winning debut and she only found one too good in a warm Group 3 at France last time out. She gives the impression that the drop back to a mile could be in her favour and it’s a slight surprise she’s not vying for favouritism.
Selection: Cathedral @ 6/1
15:00 - Sandown - Read Meg Nicholls' Blog At betmgm.co.uk Handicap
Another competitive handicap with a decent field size here and with a fair amount of pace on paper, it might be worth chancing a hold-up performer.
The one that appeals most is Brioni who came from behind to win over this course and distance on his penultimate outing. He also wasn’t disgraced at York subsequently and with slower ground sure to be in his favour this time, he may have been underestimated in the market.
Selection: Brioni @ 18/1
15:35 - Sandown - BetMGM Solario Stakes
This can go the way of Pacific Avenue who showed a gritty attitude to get up on his debut.
This well bred full brother to Highland Avenue whose dam was a Group 1 winner shaped like this stiffer test would suit and it’s notable that connections have gone straight for Group company on only the second outing for this colt.
Selection: Pacific Avenue @ 5/2
16:10 - Sandown - Tattersalls £40,000 EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes
Deedaydiva chased home a couple of nice prospects in a Newmarket maiden on debut and that looks like a solid standard for her rivals to aim at here, most of whom are making their debut. If she handles the slower conditions she’s likely to be hard to keep out of the first three.
Selection: Deedaydiva @ SP
16:45 - Sandown - Bet £10 Get £40 With BetMGM Nursery Handicap
A slower surface could be the key for Lucky Hero who has been knocking on the door so far this season.
He was only beaten half a length on handicap debut last time out and given that he’s a son of Lope De Vega, softer ground ought to suit.
Selection: Lucky Hero @ SP
17:20 - Sandown - Gamble Responsibly At BetMGM Handicap
Blind Beggar goes well with some cut in the ground and he may be capable of making a winning debut for his new connections having been purchased for 15,000gns.
He’s shown signs he retains plenty of his old ability this campaign and a Racing League Handicap was probably a shade warm last time out so expect him to get more competitive this time around.
Selection: Blind Beggar @ SP
