Wimbledon Quarter-Final Betting Tips
Wimbledon has reached the business end with quarter-final action taking place across Tuesday and Wednesday and the cream has risen to the top in the men’s draw.
Britain’s own Cameron Norrie is the only unseeded player still standing amongst the final eight with pre-tournament favourites Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic all in title contention.
Sinner may count himself fortunate – his last-16 opponent Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire injured when two sets to the good – while two-time champion Alcaraz is growing in stature.
There have been more bumps in the road in the women’s draw but world number one Aryna Sabalenka, Polish ace Iga Swiatek and rising star Mirra Andreeva have each successfully navigated their way into the quarter-finals.
Many may feel that the illustrious trio have the title between them but Amanda Anisimova, Liudmila Samsonova and Belinda Bencic will equally believe that they can spring a surprise.
Tip 1 – Cameron Norrie to win at least one set vs Carlos Alcaraz @ 23/20
Alcaraz has claimed the Wimbledon title in back-to-back years and, currently on a 22-game winning streak, it is hard to see how Norrie can dethrone the reigning champion even with the aid of home-court advantage.
However, the inspiration of the British crowd should help in the crunch moments and Alcaraz’s tendency to drop off in the middle of matches means that Norrie should be fancied to claim a set.
The Spanish superstar has dropped a set in three of his four Wimbledon victories this year – he needed five to edge past Fabio Fognini in round one at the All England Club – and only five of his last 15 wins were recorded in straight sets.
Norrie, a Wimbledon semi-finalist in 2022, is back playing to a supremely high level and he can take satisfaction from the fact that he has won two of his last three meetings with the five-time Grand Slam champion.
Tip 2 – Ben Shelton +1.5 set handicap vs Jannik Sinner @ 6/4
Having cruised through the opening three rounds in straight sets, world number one Sinner looked in a real spot of bother in his last-16 match with Dimitrov.
The Italian lost the opening two sets 6-3, 7-5 and it was 2-2 on serve in the third when Dimitrov was forced to retire hurt.
That suggested that Sinner may not be in complete control as it appeared and he has fallen at the quarter-final stage in two of the last three seasons at the All England Club.
The Italian has won his last five meetings with Shelton in straight sets but the American should have learned plenty from those recent encounters and his latest four-set win over Lorenzo Sonego suggests he could finally be coming of age in Grand Slam competition.
Shelton made the semi-final of the Australian Open earlier in the season and he could make a beleaguered Sinner pull out all of the stops.
Tip 3 - Mirra Andreeva to win 2-0 vs Belinda Bencic @ 26/25
Andreeva may have only recently turned 18 years of age but she has long been considered a potential Grand Slam champion and she has been mighty impressive at Wimbledon.
The seventh seed has breezed into the last eight without dropping a set and needed only one hour and 17 minutes to sweep aside last season’s quarter-finalist Emma Navarro 6-2, 6-3 in the previous round.
This is her first career meeting with Bencic, who is also featuring in her maiden Wimbledon quarter-final, but it is hard to see how the Swiss star can live with Andreeva’s pace and power.
Andreeva has won eight of her last nine Grand Slam matches in routine fashion and looks to be playing well enough to reach the final four with another 2-0 win.
