Fallon Sherrock: Littler just testing himself; Greaves could win world title
Fallon Sherrock says she feels darts players shouldn’t get emotional on stage in reaction to Stephen Bunting’s tearful interview after winning Night 4 of the BetMGM Premier League Darts in Belfast.
Speaking on Double Tops sponsored by BetMGM, a new weekly podcast centred on the BetMGM Premier League Darts season, Sherrock said: “I don’t think men or women should be emotional on the oche.
“At the end of the day it’s a game of darts – people need to bulk up and get on with it.
“I understand that people care but I don’t think you should be getting upset. You’ve got to be hard-skinned and not get worked up because of what’s going on.
“It takes years to block out all the outside noise, it’s not easy but you’ve just got to try and ignore it. On the big stages it’s sometimes easier because it’s almost just one big noise, but I’ve been on the receiving end of it on smaller stages on MODUS and it’s not fun.
“If you’re ill like Michael van Gerwen, it’s hard to play it down. You’ve, of course, got to try and play your best but for women we have periods and the cramps that go with those. I don’t really want to be up there playing but I’ve got to go out and do it.
“So when people say they’re sick or are feeling under the weather, I don’t really buy it.”
Littler ‘biding time’ in BetMGM Premier League
One of the big talking points of the BetMGM Premier League Darts season so far has been Luke Littler’s poor start – but Sherrock reckons the world number one is purposely making it harder for himself.
“He’s sitting back and putting a challenge on himself – 100%!” Sherrock added.
“I can see him really coming out all guns blazing in the latter weeks and almost surprising everyone. At the moment people think ‘oh he’s not doing well in the Premier League’ and I just think he wants to almost go ‘just you lot wait’.

“I don’t see any way he doesn’t make it to the O2 in London. He’s biding his time, will come out all guns blazing and do what we know he does… win.
“Things might not be going great now and I know he got a lot of boos in Belfast but he won’t care – he looks like he’s trying to play the pantomime villain a little bit and wind people up.
“He’s got a character now, which he didn’t really have when he burst on the scene. I think he’ll play on that more and more.”
Why MVG told press to stop interviewing me
The 31-year-old famously won two matches during the 2020 PDC World Championship and the run, as she recounts, changed her life totally.
She said: “That World Championship changed my life. It was absolutely manic but after I won I didn’t really realise how big a thing it was. I remember walking off the stage and my manager, Jason, said ‘what have you done, it’s going mad!’
“I did press for basically the whole day, had four hours sleep and then was on Good Morning Britain the next morning. I did more interviews for the rest of the day and Michael [van Gerwen] told the press to stop speaking to me because I had to play my next match.

“It was manic – I couldn’t go anywhere, my phone kept running out of battery so I couldn’t contact anyone.
“It was great at first because I wasn’t used to it but, after a while, it got too much because I couldn’t do anything. After the second win, it actually got worse.
“I don’t really watch darts. I tend to watch the start of tournaments and then it depends on who’s playing if I keep watching.
“Even though my dartboard is in my living room, the last thing I want to do is watch darts, throw darts, think about darts or talk about darts. My little boy doesn’t even like darts – when he comes home we don’t talk about darts at all.”
Woman can win world title – Greaves is flagbearer
Sherrock is firmly of the belief that a female darts player can win the World Championship, while she challenged Beau Greaves to help make that happen.
“I don’t see why a woman can’t win the World Championship,” Sherrock said. “As long as they can sustain their standard over the long format then I genuinely think it’s doable.
“I think Beau [Greaves] has got to exceed what we’ve all done and show that women belong in the majors. That will show women can come up through the ranks and compete.
“Beau has beaten Luke Littler, so she’s shown she can do it.”
