2025 WORLD GRAND PRIX DARTS TIPS: 3 BETS FOR THE DOUBLE-IN DRAMA

One of the most unique competitions on the darts circuit is the World Grand Prix.

Mike De Decker is the reigning champion, though he is not seeded for the 2025 edition with 2023 winner Luke Humphries seeded first.

The tournament is in a double-in-double-out set-play format – meaning players only start scoring in a leg once they hit a double or bullseye – with the number of sets to win increasing as the competition progresses.

Here, BetMGM has you covered with three tips for the tournament as darts heads to Leicester once more…

Tip 1 – Luke Humphries to win the World Grand Prix @ 6/1

It may feel like a lifetime ago because of his enormous recent success but it was only two years ago that Humphries won the World Grand Prix – his first major title.

Since then the world number one has won multiple tournaments as well as narrowly missing out on defending his crown here last year after a defeat to De Decker in the final.

Cool Hand’s 6/1 odds to regain the Grand Prix title could be generous.

True, he faces a tricky opener against Nathan Aspinall but he is also on the opposite side of the draw to tournament favourite Luke Littler.

Humphries’ 2025 average of 98.80 is the second-best on tour and, in Aspinall, he has a first-round opponent he has played nine times this year and beat seven.

You’d expect him to come through and he has every chance of adding the Grand Prix to his BetMGM Premier League and Masters titles this year.

Tip 2 – Jonny Clayton to win the World Grand Prix (each-way) @ 25/1

Jonny Clayton made the quarter-final here last year and will be targeting a good run once more in a tournament he won in 2021.

He’s made the semi-finals of the UK Open and the World Matchplay already this year, as well as the final of the World Masters.

A runner-up with Wales in the World Cup into the bargain, Clayton faces Andrew Gilding in the first round and will be out for revenge following a recent 6-0 whitewash in Players Championship 30.

The Ferret surprisingly hasn’t beaten Gilding since 2022 but Goldfinger has been eliminated at the first hurdle twice at the Grand Prix.

In doing so again, Clayton can set up a meeting with either Damon Heta or Luke Woodhouse and a potential quarter-final clash with Michael van Gerwen.

Clayton is inside the top 10 for his average (97.17) and in 12th spot for 180s (414) in 2025.

His 25/1 odds are long, but appealing. An each-way punt for Clayton here is one to watch.

Tip 3 – Bunting over 2.5 180s vs Springer & Littler over 3.5 180s vs Van Veen @ 11/4

With over 1,200 180s between them so far this year, Luke Littler (686) and Stephen Bunting (547) sit one and two on the tour for maximums in 2025.

Bunting kicks off his tournament against Niko Springer while the Nuke faces Gian van Veen.

We see value in the 180s markets in both, given their penchant for a maximum, so 29/10 for combining Littler over 3.5 180s against van Veen and Bunting over 2.5 180s against Springer carries weight for an opening-round double.

Despite the double-in format their high 180-per-leg ratio makes this bet a savvy one, even if the matches could be relatively short.
