Europa League Final Betting Tips
Manchester United and Tottenham have both had seasons to forget domestically, with the pair currently sitting 16th and 17th respectively in the Premier League, but they now have a chance to add a silver lining to a disappointing campaign as they face each other in this year’s Europa League final.
These two teams have met three times already this season, with Spurs running out winners on all three occasions, so the Red Devils will need to improve upon those performances if they are to lift this trophy for the second time.
Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou’s side are hoping to win their first trophy since lifting the 2008 League Cup.
Tip 1 - Draw @ 23/10
United and Tottenham have essentially abandoned their league campaigns in recent weeks, with Spurs collecting just one point from the last 18 on offer and the Red Devils amassing two points from the last 24.
The Europa League has provided much needed solace for the duo, with United getting the better of Real Sociedad, Lyon and Athletic Bilbao in the knockout stages whereas Spurs overcame AZ Alkmaar, Eintracht Frankfurt and Bodo/Glimt to reach the final.
Spurs have won all three meetings against United this season but, once again, the North London outfit are in the midst of an injury crisis, with key men Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall all sidelined.
United also have their selection issues, though, and they could be without the defensive trio of Lisandro Martinez, Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt.
Three of the last four Europa League finals have ended level at 90 minutes and with these two injury-hit teams struggling for form, the draw in 90 minutes looks like a big possibility.
Tip 2 - Bruno Fernandes to score or assist @ 29/20
There has been one constant source of inspiration throughout United’s struggles, captain Bruno Fernandes.
The 30-year-old has 19 goals and 19 assists in all competitions this season and has been particularly effective in this competition, netting seven goals and registering five assists in 13 games.
Fernandes has been particularly impressive in the knockout stages of the competition, bagging six times and registering two assists in six matches.
Given the Portuguese star is also his side’s designated penalty taker, there looks to be a strong chance he can score or assist in the final.
Tip 3 - Yves Bissouma to be shown a card @ 9/4
Tottenham’s wealth of injuries in midfield means that Yves Bissouma is likely to start this Europa League final.
The former Brighton man has played 42 times in all competitions, with 26 of those starts, and he was in the starting XI in both legs of the semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.
Postecoglou’s attacking style can leave big holes in midfield and United are a decent team in transition so that is an area that Ruben Amorim will look to exploit.
Bissouma has picked up 11 yellow cards in all competitions this season, two of those coming in Europe, and he could be in line for another caution.
