RBC Heritage Golf Betting Tips: Theegala to steal the show in South Carolina
With the dust only just settled on the first Major of the year, an elite 82-player field are back in PGA Tour action when they contest this week's RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.
This is the fourth Signature Event of the season, with a $3.6million cheque handed to the winner, and world number one Scottie Scheffler is the 4/1 favourite to land his second title at Hilton Head after his 2024 triumph.
Xander Schauffele is next in the betting at 12/1, ahead of 2023 Heritage champion Matt Fitzpatrick (14/1) and trio of Cameron Young, Tommy Fleetwood and Russell Henley (all 16/1).
Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg and Patrick Cantlay are all available at 20/1, ahead of 25/1 Sam Burns, who recorded his best Masters finish with a tie for seventh on Sunday.
Harbour Town is an iconic course with its small greens one of the biggest defences, and the ability to scramble well has proven to be a key metric to success over recent years.
Theegala to claim Heritage spoils
Tip 1 – Sahith Theegala to win and each-way @ 60/1
Having failed to qualify for last week's Masters, Sahith Theegala will be well rested for this trip to the Palmetto State and looks ready to land his first PGA Tour title since the Fortinet Championship.
The American has had four cracks at the Heritage and he came closest to lifting the trophy when finishing runner-up in 2024, three strokes behind Scheffler, while he was also tied-fifth 12 months earlier.
Theegala, who ranks 12th in scrambling, recorded his fourth top-10 result of the season on his last outing at the Houston Open and he looks capable of another strong showing.
Hisatsune to make his mark in America
Tip 2 – Ryo Hisatsune to win and each-way @ 60/1
Ryo Hisatsune, another player who wasn't in action at Augusta National, finished tied-18th on his Heritage debut last year and he looks capable of improving on that result.
The Japanese star has been excellent from tee to green this season, ranking ninth in strokes gained, while he is in the top 20 for both approach and off the tee.
A weak putter has been limiting the 23-year-old, who is 84th in that department, but that club has not been as crucial to success at Harbour Town in recent years as it was in the past.
Hisatsune has a runner-up finish and a further two top-10s this season and this looks like a good opportunity for him to make his PGA breakthrough.
Putnam can get into Harbour Town mix
Tip 3 – Andrew Putnam to win and each-way @ 150/1
Further down the betting list is Andrew Putnam and he looks worth siding with at a tournament he has managed to get to grips with in recent years.
Having missed the cut in his first four trips to Hilton Head, the American was 59th in 2023 and then tied-18th on his last appearance in 2024.
Putnam's sole PGA Tour triumph came at the 2018 Barracuda Championship but he has come close to ending his long trophy drought this year, notably finishing tied-second at the Farmers Insurance Open.
The 37-year-old grabbed a share of fifth at the Texas Open on his last outing and another positive heading into the Heritage is his rankings of sixth in scrambling and seventh in strokes gained around the green.
