Tour Championship Golf Betting Tips
The 2025 Tour Championship tees off this Thursday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, bringing the curtain down on a dramatic PGA Tour season.
This year, the controversial handicap system has been scrapped and all 30 qualifiers begin at level par in a traditional 72-hole shootout for the FedEx Cup title.
A $10 million winner’s prize should bring the best out of an elite field featuring past winners Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Patrick Cantlay.
Scheffler arrives as the red-hot favourite after winning five times this season, including last week’s BMW Championship. But with no strokes advantage and a field packed with sweet ball-strikers, the door is open for a surprise challenger to emerge.
East Lake underwent a major redesign last year, with firmer fairways, larger greens and more penal bunkering. Accuracy off the tee and precision into the greens will be paramount.
Let’s break down the best betting tips ahead of the PGA Tour’s season finale.
Tip 1 – Scottie Scheffler to win @ 13/8
The PGA Tour has not seen a more relentless winner than Scheffler since the peak years of Tiger Woods.
The world number one has won five of his last 10 starts and hasn’t finished outside the top eight in any of his previous 13 events.
Scheffler won the FedEx Cup last year under the handicap format but now faces a level playing field. Still, his form is so dominant that he’s the clear favourite even without a head start.
The consistent American’s tee-to-green play is unmatched and his putting — for so long the only question mark about his game — has been much improved again this year.
Scheffler leapt from 162nd to 77th in the PGA Tour’s putting stats last year and is currently ranked 16th for 2025.
He chipped in for birdie on the 71st hole at last week’s BMW Championship — a shot that summed up his current levels of boldness and belief.
With many of his closest rivals either out of form or absent, Scheffler could become the first player to win back-to-back FedEx Cups.
Tip 2 – Ludvig Aberg to win @ 16/1
Aberg has quietly built momentum heading into the Tour Championship, posting top-10 finishes in both FedEx Cup Playoff events.
The 25-year-old Swede fell away as Scheffler was making his final round push at Caves Valley Golf Club last Sunday, posting a sloppy 73.
But he had shot the same score or lower than the world’s best player in three of their previous seven rounds at the BMW and St Jude Championships.
Aberg’s ball-striking is also elite and he’s shown he can handle pressure with his win at the Genesis Invitational earlier this year when he matched Scheffler birdie for birdie in the final round.
East Lake’s firm fairways and undulating greens should suit his aggressive style.
Aberg is also auditioning for a Ryder Cup spot and a strong showing here could seal his place in the European team.
At 16/1, he offers solid value in a field where many veterans are struggling for form.
Tip 3 – Cameron Young win (Each Way) @ 28/1
Young finally broke through with his first PGA Tour win at the Wyndham Championship earlier this summer and has continued to impress since.
His powerful game is well-suited to East Lake’s longer layout, which now stretches to 7,440 yards.
Young’s form has been consistent and he’s another player looking to lock down a Ryder Cup spot. If he gets hot with the putter, he could challenge for the title.
He’s a proven winner and could be the best each-way option in the field.
