Women's PGA Championship Golf Betting Tips

The best women golfers in the world will head to Frisco in Texas this week for the third Major of the year, the Women’s PGA Championship.

Amy Yang will be defending her title, but that was won at Shalee Country Club, and a different test will face the 156 players at PGA Frisco, which has a links-style feel and few will have experienced the course which hosted the Senior PGA two years ago.

Jeeno Thitikful and Nelly Korda are at the head of the market, but this looks set to be another highly competitive women’s Major and there could be value to be found a little further down the list.

Tip 1 – Ruoning Yin to win the Women’s PGA Championship @ 14/1

Ruoning Yin knows exactly what it takes to win this tournament having come from three shots back on the final day to claim the prize at Baltusrol Golf Club in New Jersey, and the Chinese star heads to Texas in excellent form.

She was tied for second at the first Major of the year, the Chevron Challenge, when South Korea’s Mao Saigo came through a five-way play-off, but Ruoning did not allow the hangover from that disappointment to fester as she claimed another runner-up finish in her next tournament, the Black Desert Championship.

The 22-year-old rewarded each-way backers at the Women’s US Open last time out when she finished fourth, three shots behind Sweden’s Maja Stark, so she has been knocking on the door for the last few weeks and she can add another success to her five other LPGA trophies this week.

Tip 2 – Ariya Jutanugarn to win the Women’s PGA Championship @ 33/1

Like Ruoning, Ariya Jutanugarn has emerged from a disappointing start to the year to force herself into the shake-up in some of the game’s biggest tournaments.

She looks to have been galvanised by reaching the semi-finals of the T-Mobile Matchplay, when she fell to Lauren Coughlin by a one-hole margin before she was also involved in the play-off at the Chevron.

Subsequently she was sixth at the Black Desert and then ninth last time at the US Open, which, when added to the sixth she posted at last year’s Women’s Open at St Andrews, means she has been placed in the top 10 in each of the last three Majors.

Jutanugarn knows exactly what is required to come out on top in battles for the game’s biggest prizes after winning the Women’s Open in 2016 and the 2018 US Women’s Open, so don’t be surprised if she makes her presence felt towards the top of the leaderboard.

Tip 3 – Lydia Ko to win the Women’s PGA Championship @ 25/1

This week’s course will have a links feel and the chance of winds picking up in Frisco could be a plus for New Zealand’s Lydia Ko.

The winner of 23 LPGA titles, the most recent of which came at the Women's World Championship in February, could be a real factor in Texas as Ko heads to the PGA Championship as the Women’s Open champion following a two-shot success at St Andrews last summer.

That was the 28-year-old’s first Major success for eight years and will have heightened her appetite for more top honours.

This course is a new test for the players, but top 10 finishes at Muirfield and Turnberry should give Ko the confidence to believe she can be a force in this field.
