Megan Nicholls Racing Preview: Doncaster Saturday Tips

SATURDAY RACING TIPS

Doncaster 1.50 – Champagne Stakes

I fancy Gewan (13/8 fav) to win the Champagne Stakes – he won nicely at York and I think there’s more to come.

It’s great P J McDonald is back on board and I thought he gave the horse a great ride at York, so I’m looking forward to seeing them back together again.

Zhang Yuesheng has bought him with the potential of being a 2000 Guineas horse and I do think he could turn into one as I always think the Acomb is a really good race.

Gewan looks smart and should take the beating.

Megan’s Tip: Gewan WIN

Doncaster 2.25 – Portland Handicap

This looks an absolute minefield and it’s good news that BetMGM are paying five places each-way.

The one I’ve come down on is Jordan Electrics (10/1), who looks ready to win again.

He’s drawn high which is not a bad thing at Doncaster and this looks like his sort of race having run really well in similarly competitive events this season.

The jockey and trainer combination won this 12 months ago and their charge can go well again.

Megan’s Tip: Jordan Electrics EW

Doncaster 3.00 – Park Stakes

Ten Bob Tony (4/1) is the one I like in the Park Stakes.

He’s only had one start this season but was good when beating Kinross at Haydock.

He’s been taken out on his last two starts due to the ground with it essential he has a bit of juice in the ground, so the rain that has fallen will be music to connection’s ears.

Given he’s only run once this year there should likely be more in the tank and I just favour him to Shadow Of Light (6/4 fav), who is quite a hard horse to work out.

Megan’s Tip: Ten Bob Tony WIN

2025 St Leger Latest Prices

Doncaster 3.40 – St Leger

It’s hard to get away from Scandinavia (11/8 fav) in the St Leger, with Tom Marquand in the saddle.

He’s proven himself a really talented stayer this year and his trainer, Aidan O’Brien, has been saying he’s his first pick for this race for a while.

Scandinavia drops back in distance but I don’t think that’s much of an issue as it should still be a good test of stamina which will play to his strengths.

I think there’s still improvement to come and he looks a very solid market leader.

The one at an each-way price looks to be Furthur (11/1).

He hasn’t helped himself by being too keen on several occasions, but he relaxed much more at Newbury last time and was an impressive winner.

If he can relax again here then I can see him going really well at a nice price.

Megan’s Tip: Scandinavia WIN; Furthur EW
