Megan Nicholls Racing Preview: Newcastle, Lingfield & Chelmsford Tips
FRIDAY RACING TIPS
Newcastle 1.50 – BetMGM All-Weather 3 Year Old Championships
Hello Zaman (11/2) probably should have won at Lingfield last time.
He ducked right before the line and it cost him the race, however the form has been boosted with Diablo Rojo being placed in the Greenham.
He runs in a handicap for the first time off a mark of 87 and a draw in 10 gives him options in terms of track position.
I thought it was interesting that Oisin Murphy has chosen to ride Berkshire Whisper (17/2) over Humam (11/2), so he could prove the main danger.
Megan’s Tips: Hello Zaman WIN
Lingfield 2.05 – All-Weather Championships Marathon
Son Of Man (17/2) could prove quite a nice price here.
He’s taken well to the all-weather and was quite eye-catching last time. Lingfield should suit and he’s got a nice draw in eight.
Cephalus (15/2) won the Mile Handicap last year and I thought he has run better the last twice. I could see him going well of this mark.
Megan’s Tip: Son Of Man WIN; Cephalus EW
Newcastle 2.25 – BetMGM Fillies' And Mares' Championships
I’m hoping Cloud Cover (5/4 fav) can retain her crown.
She’s had a wind operation since we last saw her winning impressively over course and distance. She’s very consistent and rarely runs a bad race and she looks bound to go well at a track she clearly loves.
I expect her to be too good for them, but if you’re looking for one at an each-way price Shallow (11/1) could go well.
She’s been improving on the all-weather this winter and while she needs to improve, she could easily do so.
Megan’s Tip: Cloud Cover WIN; Shallow EW
Love it @Meg_nicholls11 👏

She has one more tip running today, find it in the blog below 👇 https://t.co/0rEOKkyDGJ pic.twitter.com/f52nPAl0PF
Lingfield 2.40 – BetMGM All Weather Vase Mile
I like the look of Farasi Lane (12/1) here.
A return to the all-weather is a positive as he seems to much prefer this sort of surface.
His Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton was very encouraging and he ran respectably in the Spring Mile too.
This is quite an open race and I just thought he offered a bit of value.
Megan’s Tip: Farasi Lane EW
Newcastle 3.00 – BetMGM All-Weather Championships Mile
Storm Star (5/1) is the one I like here.
Andrew Balding is absolutely flying at the moment and this horse has won the last twice over course and distance. He’s never been out of the placings in his career and there could be more to come still.
He’s well drawn and given the form of the yard, he looks a big player with improvement likely of this mark.
Each way I’ll back Kingdom Come (17/2). He returns to this track will be helpful and was only narrowly beaten in this race 12 months ago off the same mark of 103.
Megan’s Tip: Storm Star WIN; Kingdom Come EW
Lingfield 3.15 – All-Weather Vase Sprint
Silky Wilkie (15/2) should go very well here.
I like the angle of him coming back from Dubai and he ran a cracker on his return at this track before finishing seventh at Wolverhampton.
You can ignore that Wolverhampton run, though, as he was wide throughout and never really got into it.
He should be able to bounce out and dictate and can take this at a nice price.
Megan’s Tip: Silky Wilkie EW
"She is a stone higher in the ratings this time but, in fairness to her, she does look a stone better.”

Newcastle 3.35 – All-Weather Sprint
Oisin Murphy being back on Fivethousandtoone (13/2) is a big positive.
He won this race last year when trained by Andrew Balding and I don’t think a new stable will have done this horse any harm at all.
He ran really well in a Listed race at Southwell over five furlongs which was too sharp for him and had no luck in running at the same track last time.
He’s nicely drawn and can repeat the feat from last year.
Megan’s Tip: Fivethousandtooone WIN
Lingfield 3.50 – BetMGM All-Weather Vase Fillies' Handicap
I thought Get Jiggy With It (12/1) could run well here with Jack Callan claiming seven pounds.
She’s got cheekpieces on for the first time and she ran on quite nicely last time over six furlongs.
Back up to seven with a good draw in two and the addition of headgear could all see her get involved.
Megan’s Tip: Get Jiggy With It EW
Newcastle 4.07 – All-Weather Easter Classic
I do think the French raider, Hooking (8/1), has a good chance again here.
He ran really well in this race last year and probably did a little too much too early on from a wide draw.
He’s drawn better this time and that should help him settle and I can see him going nicely with this race clearly the plan for a while.
He’s off the same mark too.
Each-way, keep an eye on Salamanca (12/1). He ran nicely enough at Chelmsford last time because he broke badly.
He caught the eye with the way he ran on and given it was his first run for a while, he’s entitled to step forward from it.
Megan’s Tip: Hooking WIN; Salamanca EW
"This race has been the plan since November... and we think we have him in very good form."

Lingfield 4.20 – All-Weather Vase Marathon
Road To Wembley (SP) was back to form at Wolverhampton last time over the correct trip.
The two runs over a mile showed he needs much further and he showed that with a good third over 1m 6f.
That came in a higher grade than this, so a repeat performance in this weaker race should see him go close.
The extra couple of furlongs should really help him and I like his chances quite a lot.
Megan’s Tip: Road To Wembley WIN
Chelmsford 4.30 – Conditions Stakes
This has a quite a nice feel to it and the one I’m looking forward to seeing is Sky Majesty (4/5 fav).
She takes on the boys here, but she looks the type to improve now she’s a three-year-old. She’s already a Group Two winner and seems versatile in terms of conditions and I expect her to take this out on the road to enjoying a profitable season.
Megan’s Tip: Sky Majesty WIN
Newcastle 4.42 – All-Weather Championships Marathon
In the finale, I’ll be backing Wonder Legend (4/1) for James Ferguson and Daniel Muscutt.
He’s certainly an improving stayer who is still unexposed at this trip. He looks a horse who has bundles of stamina so I don’t see any reason why he won’t stay and he’s had a good preparation ahead of this contest.
He impressed at Wolverhampton where he pulled clear and I don’t think the handicapper has been too harsh considering the manner in which he won.
Plenty in here are quite exposed but he isn’t and there might be a lot more to come.
Megan’s Tip: Wonder Legend WIN
Lingfield 4.50 – BetMGM All-Weather Vase Three-Year-Old Handicap
Vocal Legend (SP) gets in here right at the bottom of the weights for Charlie Hills.
I thought he was pretty impressive on his latest start at Southwell. Admittedly it wasn’t the strongest field, but it was hard not to be taken by how he did it.
This is his first try in a handicap but a mark of 75 looks fair and I’d imagine Billy Loughnane will employ similar tactics to last time. Those didn’t work too badly so I don’t see why he’d change!
Megan’s Tip: Vocal Legend WIN
