Royal Ascot Day 2 Betting Tips
There’s another cracking day of action in store at Royal Ascot this Wednesday with a seven-race card.
The feature race of the day is the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes in which Los Angeles will attempt to get another Group 1 on the board.
We have selections and analysis for all seven races including a last-time-out winner who could be hard to beat.
14:30 – Ascot - Queen Mary Stakes
Plenty are in with claims in a competitive opener and a chance is taken on True Love for the Ballydoyle team.
A high draw is often an advantage on the straight course at Ascot so stall 25 looks ideal and she chased home a subsequent Group 3 winner on her debut before another narrow defeat in a maiden to a nice prospect.
Selection: True Love
15:05 – Ascot - Queen's Vase
There are plenty of potential improvers for a step up in distance here but one that looks capable of going well having already proved himself at this sort of trip is Carmers.
He took his unbeaten record to two from two in Listed class at Navan last time out and the way he finished off his race left the impression that this stiff test will suit.
Selection: Carmers
15:40 – Ascot - Duke Of Cambridge Stakes
Cinderella’s Dream could be a tough nut to crack after her hugely impressive win at Newmarket last month.
She has to carry a penalty for that career-best success but she has plenty of fast-ground form in the book and sets a solid standard for her rivals to aim at here in a weak looking Group 2 contest.
Selection: Cinderella’s Dream
16:20 – Ascot - Prince Of Wales's Stakes
Getting weight from all of her rivals thanks to the fillies’ allowance, See The Fire may be capable of taking this step up in class in her stride.
She couldn’t have been any more impressive at York and the sectional times add weight to the standard of that performance. Quick ground seems to be the key to this filly and she will get her conditions once again here.
Selection: See The Fire
17:00 – Ascot - Royal Hunt Cup
This is always one of the trickiest puzzles of the week to solve and this year is no exception.
Colin Keane landed the Juddmonte job only last week and he’ll be delighted with his book of rides over the first two days, and particularly with Qirat in this contest. He was only narrowly denied by a well-handicapped rival returning to form in the Victoria Cup last time out and he’s not fully exposed at this longer trip. He ought to go close if he takes to the first-time blinkers.
Selection: Qirat
17:35 – Ascot - Kensington Palace Stakes
Rainbows Edge was unlucky to lose her unbeaten record in a Listed contest last season but got firmly back on track with a course and distance success last month.
She should strip fitter for that first run of the season this time and a 5lb rise looks lenient for that win.
Selection: Rainbows Edge
18:10 – Ascot - Windsor Castle Stakes
With two wins to his name already, it’s easy to see why Rogue Legend heads the market, particularly given the facile nature of his success at Tipperary last time out.
There’s a chance he’ll improve for quicker ground and a stiffer finish here too, and his trainer is a shrewd operator on the other side of the Irish Sea
Selection: Rogue Legend
