LAURA WOODS: MAN CITY A BIG DANGER IN PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE RACE

LIVERPOOL NOT OUT OF IT; CITY WHERE THEY WANT TO BE

I don’t think you can say Liverpool are totally out of the Premier League title race but they’ve made it very hard for themselves, even at this stage of the season.

It’s also not a surprise that Manchester City are right back in the picture again and I do think those two dropped points by Arsenal against Sunderland could prove absolutely massive.

They’ve just left the door open – and City don’t exactly need an invitation to walk through it.

I interviewed Phil Foden last week after the Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund and asked him if they liked the chase because we’ve seen them do this so many times before.

He played it down but he had this little smile on his face which showed me they do love it and they are very confident they’ll be right there at the business end of the season.

The lead at the moment is nowhere big enough for Arsenal to be comfortable.

FODEN HAS TO START FOR ENGLAND

I can see what Thomas Tuchel is saying about having to change the structure to get both Foden and Jude Bellingham in this England side.

However, we’ve seen so far this season what Foden can do and I just love him as a player. I think we’d all love to see him do what he does for Man City in an England shirt.

It’s going to be hard to get both him and Bellingham in but my thoughts on it would be to play Foden in the number 10 role behind Harry Kane. Let him do what he does for City and I can’t see how England won’t thrive as a result.

Bellingham is a tricky one. There have been rumours about a rift with Tuchel but I don’t really buy all of that.

He’s top-class and it’s up to the manager to find a way to fit them all in. It’s Bellingham’s job to contribute to what the team is already doing.

CHLOE KELLY MY PICK FOR SPOTY

She’s the favourite and I’d love to see Chloe Kelly win BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The way she kept coming off the bench at the Euros and changing the game was amazing.

I also thought the way she did it and the character she showed was really inspirational.

To have that sort of attitude, willpower and sense of humour, for me, really encompasses what Sports Personality of the Year is all about.

She is a real inspiration to so many and I really hope she wins it.

EUBANK JR TO HAVE TOO MUCH FOR BENN

I can’t wait for the rematch between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn… but I do see it going the same way as the first fight.

I expect it to be a great spectacle and both fighters to put on a real show although, for me, Eubank just has the greater physical attributes.

He’s a bigger and stronger man and it’s so hard to overcome that, however good a boxer you are.

Fundamentally, Eubank is a better boxer despite having to drop down a bit in weight, and I do think Benn is going to find it really tough to reverse the tables this time around.

My only real reservation with Eubank is, given his age and the number of heavy fights he’s been in, is the hunger still there versus what it was a few years ago?

I remember Tony Bellew used to say to me that some boxers who are sons of boxers don’t always have the hunger for boxing because they are born into it and so don’t have to scrap as hard to make it.

I’d love Conor to win. He’s a brilliant, explosive fighter and when he fights it’s really engaging to watch.

I’m finding it hard to see how he comes out on top, though. I really hope he does, but that’s heart ruling head, in all honesty.
