Gold golf ball on tee

Cadillac Championship Betting Tips

It is 10 years since the Blue Monster course at Doral has hosted a top-level four-round golf tournament, but the Florida track will be the venue of this week's Cadillac Championship, which will be the fifth signature event of the PGA Tour year.

Masters champion Rory McIlroy will not be attending, while Matt Fitzpatrick, who has won three times in the last five weeks, is another absentee, but world number one Scottie Scheffler leads a strong field looking to tame the course which stretches more than 7,700 yards.

There will be plenty of water to avoid too, so it is not necessarily the case that length off the tee is the only thing the winner will need, but it should be an intriguing tournament on a course with which few of the field are acquainted.

Morikawa can tame Blue Monster

Tip 1 – Collin Morikawa each-way @ 18/1

Long, accurate hitting will be essential for anyone looking to get to grips with the Blue Monster, which should play into the hands of Scheffler, who has finished second in his last two events at the Masters and the RBC Heritage.

However, the world number one's strong chances are reflected in a short price, so it makes sense to search for better value elsewhere.

One player who fits the bill is Collin Morikawa, who has been excellent in the signature events this year and has bounced back well from the back injury that halted his challenge at the Players Championship.

The American recovered from that disappointment by finishing seventh at Augusta and his fourth at the subsequent Heritage continued his fine run in this year's biggest events, which include a win at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, seventh at the Genesis Invitational and fifth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He ranks 16th in strokes-gained off the tee and fifth in greens-in-regulation, both of which could be key stats this week, and a strong push for glory is anticipated.

Kim is bubbling under

Tip 2 – Si Woo Kim each-way @ 28/1

It is more than three years since Si Woo Kim captured the most recent of his four PGA Tour titles, but the South Korean has been knocking on the door on occasions this year and could make a bold bid.

He finished third at the Heritage two weeks ago, two shots off a play-off that featured Fitzpatrick and Scheffler, and while his 47th at the Masters was a disappointment, he had been tenth at the Texas Open a week before.

Other notable results were a second spot at the Farmers Insurance Open and third at the Phoenix Open, and this straight hitter should not be ignored even among this elite company.

Experience of great value for Scott

Tip 3 – Adam Scott each-way @ 33/1

There are not many players in the field who can call upon a wealth of Doral experience this week, but one player who can is former Masters winner Adam Scott.

The Australian was champion the last time the game's elite assembled at the Florida course in 2016 for the WGC Cadillac Championship and has another four top-ten finishes at this week's venue.

However, there has been enough from him this year to suggest he can be a factor as he was fourth at the Genesis, 11th at the Arnold Palmer and his 24th at Augusta was no disgrace, so he could be a factor.
