Megan Nicholls Racing Preview: Musselburgh & Haydock Tips
SATURDAY RACING TIPS
Musselburgh 1.55 – Silver Arrow Handicap
I can’t help but have a few quid each way on Gweedore (6/1) here.
He loves Musselburgh, loves this race and goes well fresh.
This race has been the start-of-season target for the last few seasons and sometimes it pays to just stick with a horse that we know will love conditions.
Megan’s Tip: Gweedore EW
Musselburgh 2.30 – Listed Goliath Cup
This is a nice addition to the card and, while Al Qareem (4/5 fav) has to give weight away to his rivals, he looks the class horse in this field.
He’s a very consistent and classy stayer and this looks a nice opportunity to start his season in a positive way.
Megan’s Tip: Al Qareem WIN
Haydock 2.46 – Stayers Hurdle Series Final Handicap Hurdle
Jakar Du Moulin (10/3) is a horse on the rise.
He’s won well on his last two starts and I think there’s more improvement to come.
It’s obviously a competitive contest but he could still be a fair way ahead of the handicapper and you need horses with a bit up their sleeve in these sorts of races.
Megan’s Tip: Jakar Du Moulin WIN
Musselburgh 3.05 – Queen’s Cup Handicap
Dan Skelton can do no wrong over jumps at the moment and I have a feeling he can grab a winner on the Flat here with Gambino (9/2).
He has a tongue tie for the first time and ran well behind Constitution Hill on his stable debut at Southwell.
He only carries just 8st 11lbs on his back and the tongue tie looks an interesting addition, so I’m quite hopeful about his chances.
Megan’s Tip: Gambino WIN
Haydock 3.20 – Middle Distance Veterans' Handicap Chase (Series Final)
I quite like the chances of Fugitif (8/1) with a visor on for the first time.
The heavy ground at Warwick didn’t suit him last time but being back on better ground and a flatter track like Haydock should be much more to his liking.
We know he’s got plenty of ability and I can see the change of headgear really working in his favour.
Megan’s Tip: Fugitif WIN
Musselburgh 3.42 – Scottish Sprint Cup
It could be a good day for Rossa Ryan because, as well as Gambino, I fancy his mount in this.
That’s Democracy Dilemma (11/2), who is a very reliable sprinter and will be ready to go, having run on the all-weather already this season.
This mark looks within his capabilities and I can see him bouncing out and being hard to catch at a track that will suit.
Megan’s Tip: Democracy Dilemma WIN
Odds correct at time of publication but subject to fluctuation
