BUNTING BRILLIANCE IN SHEFFIELD – BETMGM PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS NIGHT 16 RECAP
Stephen Bunting claimed the win on the final regular night of the season, beating Luke Humphries to secure his second nightly title.
His win over the defending champion wasn’t enough to make the top four and it did feel like what might have been for the Bullet, who avenged last week’s whitewash at the hands of the world number two.
In making a fourth final in a row, Humphries secured third spot with Gerwyn Price having to settle for fourth – meaning he will face Luke Littler in the semi-finals at the O2 next week.
Here’s everything you need to know about Night 16 in a nutshell:
- Night 16 winner: Stephen Bunting
- Runner-up: Luke Humphries
- Key takeaway: Bunting’s wins more than one night in a season for the first time; the Bullet won the night, had the most 180s and the highest checkout; Littler missed the chance to claim a record seventh nightly win; Both Littler and Josh Rock averaged below 90 in their quarter-final.

How Night 16 Unfolded in Sheffield
Despite there being little to play for in theory, it was an enthralling night in Sheffield as the regular season was wrapped up.
It was eventual winner Bunting that kicked the night off against second-placed Jonny Clayton with the Bullet prevailing in a match where both players averaged north of a ton.
Price beat Gian van Veen next, with the Dutchman suffering a disappointing end to his debut campaign with a 6-2 defeat.

Top against bottom was way tighter than the standings suggest, with Littler beating Josh Rock in a decider before Humphries also needed a deciding leg to edge past outgoing Michael van Gerwen.
Buting then saw off Price in the semi while on the other half of the draw Humphries thrashed the Nuke 6-1 in their latest tussle, guaranteeing third place in the process.
That left Bunting and Cool Hand to battle it out for the night, and it was the Liverpudlian who deservedly won it with an average of 106.37.
THE WINNER’S ENCLOSURE WITH… STEPHEN BUNTING
“I felt great all night,” said the 41-year-old. “I’ve really enjoyed myself. It’s been a lot better than last year I believe. I’ve got a lot more confidence and a lot more belief.
“I’ve played some fantastic darts tonight and I’m just so proud of myself.
“I feel like I’ve played a great tournament. Obviously people wrote me off but I’ve finished fifth, I’ve dug deep and got two nightly wins.

“Tonight I wanted to make a statement. I want to be in the Premier League for years to come… we’ll see what happens for the rest of the year but that was a massive statement tonight for me.
“This game is all about confidence. When you’re in the Premier League you’re playing against the best players in the world week in, week out. It’s been difficult, but I’ve really enjoyed it.”
