BETMGM VS LAURA WOODS: PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS NIGHT 5

BetMGM Premier League Darts action makes its way to Wales as the PDC’s premier roadshow takes a pit stop in Cardiff for Night 5.

That also means it’s time for week five of our darts challenge with ambassador Laura Woods!

Each week, Laura pits her darting wits against the house to predict the action across three key markets:

  • Night Winner
  • Most 180s
  • Highest Checkout

A point is awarded for every correct prediction but please note that, if someone calls all three correctly, they’ll earn an extra two bonus points (meaning they get five points in total for that night).

Laura holds a 2-1 lead after the opening four nights, with Gian van Veen’s 167 checkout ensuring we pulled a point back.

NIGHT 5 FIXTURES

Here’s the draw bracket for BetMGM Premier League Darts Night 5:

Night 5 Cardiff bracket

It’s a home night for both Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton this week – with both having BetMGM Premier League history in Cardiff.

Price has either lost his first match or made the final on all four occasions he’s played in the city since the Premier League’s format change from 2022 onwards.

Last year he lost in the first round, as he did in 2022, with a nightly win secured in 2023 and a run to the final a year later.

It’s a similar story for Clayton, who lost his quarter-final tie the last time he was here in 2023 but reached the final the year before.

An all-Welsh final is possible with each in a different half of the draw, though they face difficult tasks with Price facing Night 4 winner Stephen Buntingand Clayton three-time nightly finalist Van Veen.

And then there’s the two Lukes. Luke Littler and Luke Humphries sit seventh and sixth respectively, but the spectre of one or both of them exploding into life looms large over the rest of the field.

World number one Littler faces Belfast nine-dart hero Josh Rock in Cardiff, while Humphries has the unenviable task of besting seven-time Premier League winner Michael van Gerwen in the opening tie of the evening.

NIGHT 5 BETTING ODDS

So what do the odds say is likely to happen?

NIGHT 5 WINNER BETTING

Despite his early-season struggles, Littler still leads the night winner market at 13/8.

Likewise, Humphries goes into the night as 4/1 second favourite even though he is yet to make a nightly final.

Three-time beaten finalist Van Veen is next best at 5/1, with Antwerp winner Price at 13/2, Glasgow victor Clayton 10/1 and Newcastle champion Van Gerwen 11/1.

Bunting – 28/1 winner last week – is at 12s for back-to-back successes with Rock bottom of the table and bottom of the betting at a big 20/1.

NIGHT 5 180s MARKET

Back-to-back world champion Littler heads the betting to hit the most 180s on Night 5. The 19-year-old has yet to nail this market across his four nights to date and is currently 11/10 to do so in Cardiff.

Humphries (5/1) is followed by Van Veen and Price at 8/1, Clayton at 9s, both Rock and Bunting at 10/1 and Van Gerwen rounding off the maximums market at 12/1.

NIGHT 5 HIGHEST CHECKOUT ODDS

Van Veen’s 167 saw him win this market as an 11/2 shout in Belfast, with Clayton and Van Gerwen (twice) also landing the highest checkout so far this season.

The Giant is 5/1 third favourite behind Littler (7/2) and Humphries (9/2) to repeat his success while Price (6/1) and Clayton (13/2) landing big finishes would go down extremely well with the partisan home crowd.

Van Gerwen sits at 13/2 to do it for a third time this term while Rock and Bunting are both at 8s.

It is 15/8 for the big fish – a 170 checkout – to be hit at the Utilita Arena as it was last season.
