The Iceman was untouchable, winning all three of his matches by a commanding 6-2 scoreline and culminating in a final victory over a resurgent Gian van Veen.

How Night 9 Unfolded in Manchester

It was a night of statistical brilliance for Price, who hit 18 of his 25 attempts at double on the night as well as six 100-plus checkouts.

The peak arguably came when he averaged a sublime 112.9 in his semi-final against Stephen Bunting, a match in which he also landed his first 170 checkout of the season.

While Van Veen suffered heartbreak in his fourth final of the season his evening was defined by a fiery quarter-final win over Littler, handing the world number one his first opening-round exit since Night 4.

Bunting sealed his last-four spot with a win over Michael van Gerwen and was joined there by Josh Rock – who beat Clayton for the second successive week – while the results mean defending champion Humphries remains outside the play-off spots with the campaign surpassing the halfway stage.

THE WINNER’S ENCLOSURE WITH… GERWYN PRICE

"I was a nervous wreck before I played Humphries, so that win settled me down," said Price post-match.

"I played well against Bunting and then Van Veen wasn't on his game in the final, which I was happy with as you always doubt yourself.

Price Quote

"But sometimes you feel you can't miss. When I start throwing darts the right way, they sit in the top of the treble 20 and you start reeling in big fish.

"I just want to pick up two points every week and to get a nightly win is a bonus. I think everyone is still in with a chance of the top four."

Updated 2026 BetMGM Premier League Darts Table

While Humphries continues to languish outside the play-off spots, Price’s victory saw him leapfrog World Cup team-mate Clayton into second as Littler’s primary challenge at the top.

Humphries’ defeat means Van Gerwen was granted something of a reprieve for losing his own quarter-final to Bunting, who remains second-bottom ahead of Rock albeit both added two points to their totals.

Van Veen’s run to the final puts him ahead of Humphries in fifth and just one point off compatriot Van Gerwen, who he plays in the Night 10 quarter-finals.

Next Up: Night 10 in Brighton

The BetMGM Premier League Darts season returns to what proved a ridiculously fruitful hunting ground last season.

Not one but two nine-dart legs were hit in Brighton in 2025 – can history repeat itself in 2026?

Humphries kicks things off against Clayton with the world number two and reigning BetMGM Premier League champion knowing we are fast approaching must-win territory after another quarter-final loss in Manchester.

Elsewhere, Price goes head-to-head with Rock while Littler tackles Bunting and the Dutch derby between Van Gerwen and Van Veen that we missed out on in Dublin due to the latter’s illness gets its moment in the sun on the south coast.
