WHO WON BETMGM PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS NIGHT 1?
The Premier League king is back on his throne… well, after Night 1 anyway.
Michael van Gerwen issued a thunderous statement in Newcastle, winning his first nightly event since 2024.
The Green Machine capped a dominant evening by defeating the man who replaced him as Netherlands number one, Gian Van Veen, in an all-Dutch final.
“𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙚𝙚𝙚” 😅

We asked darts fans what the 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 thing about Newcastle is…
𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘳: 𝘈𝘣𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰 𝘣𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘉𝘦𝘵𝘔𝘎𝘔-𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘴 👀… pic.twitter.com/4kNkyU3rrk
En route he dismantled defending champion Humphries with a clinical 6-2 victory, emphatically reminding the field of his legendary status.
Van Veen enjoyed a stellar debut himself, gaining immediate revenge for his World Championship heartbreak by eliminating Littler in the quarter-final.
Returning 2021 league winner Jonny Clayton picked up an opening-game win over debutant Josh Rock behind a sensational 109 average while there were quarter-final exits for Stephen Bunting and Gerwyn Price.
It leaves the league table looking like this:

Key talking points from Night 1:
- Littler exited in the first round of a BetMGM Premier League event for the first time since Night 12 last season
- Van Veen became the first player to make the final on his full debut night since Chris Dobey in Belfast back in 2023
- Van Veen and Van Gerwen’s meeting marked the first all-Dutch Premier League final of any description since Raymond van Barneveld beat Van Gerwen in the 2014 Finals Night showpiece
- Clayton, making his Premier League return for the first time since 2024, recorded the night’s highest average with a 109.8 display in his quarter-final win over Rock
- After going 0/16 for nightly wins last season, Van Gerwen secured victory at the very first attempt this term

Keep an eye out for any nine-darters – BetMGM is once again rewarding any player who hits a nine-darter during this year’s Premier League season with a custom-made set of solid gold darts, worth £30,000.
The 18ct prize, made bespoke by Humphrey and Hawkins, is up for grabs for any of the eight players who land the perfect leg – a feat that has been achieved 19 times in the tournament’s 21-year history – and can be won multiple times during the 17 weeks of BetMGM Premier League Darts action.
In 2025 Humphries, Littler, Price (twice) and Rob Cross all struck perfection, meaning BetMGM handed out gold darts worth £150,000.
