BETMGM PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS NIGHT 13 TIPS: HUMPHRIES MUST SHOW GRANITE CITY GRIT
With Luke Littler and Jonny Clayton assured of play-off spots after meeting in last week's final the attention turns to the remaining two places – and we could have quite the battle on our hands there.
The evening’s opening clash is a last-chance saloon for any lingering hopes Josh Rock may have of making Finals Night.
Despite improvement of late, eight quarter-final defeats to start his debut BetMGM Premier League season left him with far too much to do. And he’s up against Littler here.
Gerwyn Price was cruising but three consecutive defeats at the first hurdle has left his position in the top four a little vulnerable.
He is still five points clear of fifth but a defeat to Stephen Bunting in Aberdeen could open the door for the chasing pack.
There are hopes of the O2 for Gian van Veen too as he faces Clayton– four points separate the Dutchman from the top four and he can pile on the pressure by picking up some points here.
Rounding off the openers are defending BetMGM Premier League champion Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.
Cool Hand has toiled so far and remains without a nightly win, yet could close the gap on Mighty Mike with a victory and ramp up the pressure heading into the final weeks.

BetMGM Premier League Darts Tips: 17/2 Night 13 Acca
- Rock vs Littler over 5.5 180s
- Bunting vs Price over 9.5 legs
- Clayton to beat Van Veen
- Humphries to beat Van Gerwen
Leg 1 – Over 5.5 180s in Josh Rock vs Luke Littler @ 13/25
Both Rock and Littler can arguably play with the pressure off.
For Rocky, there is just too much to do. A terrible start to the competition has left him playing catch-up but recent weeks have at least shown glimpses of what the Northern Irishman is capable of.
Littler has already qualified after his own shaky start and we know all too well the Nuke likes to put on a show.
They’ve only met once in the BetMGM Premier League so far – a 6-4 win for Littler – and in fact Rock is yet to get the better of the world champion at all.
Still, we expect a battle with strong scoring throughout meaning the 180s market is worth a look.

Unsurprisingly, Littler has thrown the most maximums so far with 88 – an average of 3.67 per match.
Rocky isn’t too shabby at hitting the treble 20 bed either. His 46 in 16 games helps him to the fourth-highest average and the only clash between the pair so far threw up five.
That’s just short of the threshold needed here but, between them, they are more than capable of hitting over 5.5 180s at 13/25.
Littler’s 768 in the past 12 months and his relentless obsession with the maximum mean he is more than capable of hitting that line all by himself if things click – and it looks like a very solid choice to kick off the night.
Leg 2 – Over 9.5 legs in Stephen Bunting vs Gerwyn Price @ Evens
The play-offs are still alive for Bunting… but only just.
Seven points off fourth, he needs to go deep in Aberdeen to prolong those hopes.
Both these players have seen their fair share of matches go the distance this season so a prolonged battle seems to be the way to go here, given that four of their five BetMGM Premier League meetings have contained at least 10 legs.
Add to that almost half of Price’s games so far having over 9.5 legs and Evens for it to happen again in the north-east stands out.
More drama could be on the way in Scotland. Bunting must win but don’t forget how big this is for the Welshman, too.
Three losses in a row in the quarters have left his play-off spot open to challenge – neither player will want to give an inch in this one.
Leg 3 – Jonny Clayton to beat Gian van Veen @ 17/20
The Ferret’s BetMGM Premier League return is bordering on fairytale stuff.
Never out of the top four, Clayton leads the way after 12 nights and is already guaranteed a play-off place. Make no mistake though: he will want to top the table.
A comprehensive defeat to Littler in the final last week prevented a stunning fifth nightly win and third on the spin. Now he has the chance to put that one right here against Van Veen.
Clayton has won the last three BetMGM Premier League meetings with the Giant after suffering defeat on Night 1 in Newcastle. Playing like he is right now, it is hard to see past him at the venue he won at in 2022.

He’s lost just three times at the quarter-final stage so far and all came in a mini mid-season blip which now looks to be long behind him.
Van Veen is just four points off the top four and will believe he can make the O2, having made four finals, but he has won just three BetMGM Premier League matches in total since Night 4.
All the signs point to a Clayton win here and, at 17/20, that is a price not to be sniffed at.
BetMGM’s early payout on three-leg leads means that we’re paying out as a winner if he takes a three-leg lead – even more reason to back the Ferret.
Leg 4 – Luke Humphries to beat Michael van Gerwen @ 7/10
Humphries' title defence is turning into a bit of a nightmare.
Sixth in the table, without a nightly win to his name and five points off a play-off spot – some solid performances just haven’t yielded the points required.
His adopted home night in Leeds is on the horizon and Cool Hand will want to pick up points in Scotland to head there in a buoyant mood.
Apart from anything else, he can’t afford to fall further behind fourth-placed Van Gerwen. Handy, then, that they play one another first here.
He has the Premier League edge overall over the Dutchman. Nine wins in their 13 matches will give him confidence, though two of those four wins for Mighty Mike have come this season.

Humphries can pinpoint the 6-1 thrashing of MVG in Cardiff as a performance he needs to reproduce but, while the seven-time winner occupies a top-four spot, he has been far from fluid at times with five quarter-final defeats himself.
Cool Hand is one of just two players with a tournament average north of 100 but has been let down by a checkout percentage of 36.16%.
Still, Van Gerwen is beatable these days. A leg difference of just one shows how tight some of his matches have been and we’re backing Humphries to just about get the job done and make a real go of his play-off push at 10/13.
Remember: our early payout may come in handy in this one, too, should the world number two go clear.
