BETMGM PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS NIGHT 13 PREVIEW & TIPS: TOP 4 BATTLE INTENSIFIES

The 2024 BetMGM Premier League Darts heads to Liverpool following last week’s trip over the North Sea to Rotterdam, where the battle for the play-off spots intensified as Nathan Aspinall claimed his second nightly win of the tournament in the Netherlands to move third in the standings.

Aspinall beat Michael Smith in the final, leaving Bully Boy fifth in the table and with work still to do to break into the top four. Michael van Gerwen could not follow up his win in Birmingham with a home triumph in Rotterdam as he was beaten in the quarter-finals by world number one and league leader Luke Humphries.

Humphries subsequently lost to Aspinall, who had beaten Peter Wright with ease in the round prior with the Scotsman averaging a dismal 77.48. He continues to prop up the table.

Rob Cross, meanwhile, now sits seventh after a sixth consecutive quarter-final exit. This time he lost out to Gerwyn Price, who still has his work cut out to make the quarter-finals himself as his loss in the semis to Smith leaves him 10 points off the top four with just four regular nights left to play.

Luke Littler looks comfortable in second place despite a quarter-final defeat in the Netherlands. He is tied on points with Humphries, behind only by virtue of the world champion having more nightly wins.

An explosive night is in store in Liverpool. Let’s take a run-through of the Night 13 fixtures as the tournament heads back to the North West.

BetMGM Premier League Darts Night 13 Fixtures

First up in the quarter-finals, Luke Littler faces Gerwyn Price as he looks to return to the top of the table. Price did move up in the standings above Rob Cross after a semi-final appearance last week but now faces a real struggle to break into the top four, sitting 10 points off fourth.

Second up at the oche we have league leader Luke Humphries up against last week’s winner Nathan Aspinall. Following a rocky start to the competition, the Asp can actually leap to the top of the standings with another nightly win in Liverpool if other results go his way.

This would be quite the turnaround from a player who failed to win a single game across the first three nights. Humphries, of course, won three nights in a row earlier in the tournament but is without a nightly win in four weeks. His performances, however, remain solid and he is still the only player averaging over 100 for the tournament.

Peter Wright takes on Michael van Gerwen in quarter-final number three. MVG has had a mixed tournament, with four nightly wins surrounded by seven quarter-final exits, including on his home night in Rotterdam last week.

Snakebite’s form has gone from bad to worse in recent weeks and, after averaging just over 77 in a wretched display on Night 12, he will be hoping to get through the final few weeks of the tournament and write this season off as one to forget.

Finally, a struggling Rob Cross takes on play-offs hopeful Michael Smith. Bully Boy made the final in Rotterdam and, while his only nightly win so far remains the opening night in Cardiff, a string of final and semi-final appearances have kept him in contention and he sits just two points off the top four. Cross has endured a turgid second half of the tournament and his play-off hopes look all but over after six defeats on the spin.

Night 13 quarter-finals in full: Luke Littler vs Gerwyn Price; Luke Humphries vs Nathan Aspinall; Peter Wright vs Michael van Gerwen; Michael Smith vs Rob Cross

17/1 BetMGM Premier League Darts Night 13 Accumulator

Our 19/2 accumulator for Rotterdam last week was a winner and as the 2024 BetMGM Premier League Darts heads to Liverpool for Night 13, we have put together another acca for the quarter-final matches which comes in at a tasty 17/1.

Luke Littler vs Gerwyn Price – Price’s highest checkout over 100.5 @ Evens

For all Gerwyn Price has struggled in the standings, he has been performing well with regards to checkouts and that is where we are going for our acca pick. With the highest average 100+ checkouts of all the players at 0.63 – and the highest average weekly checkout at 103.47 – Price’s highest checkout of the match to be over 100.5 seems excellent value at Evens.

Luke Humphries vs Nathan Aspinall – Over 9.5 legs in the match @ 10/11

The second quarter-final between Luke Humphries and Nathan Aspinall is a repeat of the semi-final in Rotterdam just a week ago. Aspinall got the better of Cool Hand in the Netherlands on his way to winning a second 2024 BetMGM Premier League night and can propel himself to the top of the table should results go his way here.

It won’t be easy, though, with reigning world champion Humphries averaging an impressive, league-leading 101.16 across the tournament. In the head-to-heads, the games have been close with Humphries just edging their five meetings so far in the competition, winning three of them.

We expect another close one here. The last two meetings have had over 9.5 legs and that is our selection for this game too, at an appealing 10/11.

Peter Wright vs Michael van Gerwen – Van Gerwen King of the Oche @ 17/10

Peter Wright is having a tournament to forget with just two wins from the first 12 nights and Michael van Gerwen has a chance to heap more misery on the Scotsman in quarter-final number three in Liverpool.

Wright averaged just 77 in his defeat to Aspinall last week and lost to world number 51 Mickey Mansell during European Tour 4 at the weekend as his struggles continued.

MVG has Michael Smith breathing down his neck for a place in the top four so needs to pick up some points this week. The Dutchman has hit more, and averages more, maximums than Wright this season, won the match and had the highest checkout in their only other BetMGM Premier League meeting this term too.

As a result, we reckon he will win this one with such ease that we are taking the 17/10 for the seven-time winner to be ‘King of the Oche’ (to win, hit the highest checkout and the most 180s).

Michael Smith vs Rob Cross – Smith to win the match @ 10/13

Closing out the quarter-finals are two players with contrasting fortunes of late: Michael Smith and Rob Cross.

Bully Boy has given himself a real chance of Play-offs Night qualification with two final appearances in the last five nights and sits within touching distance of the top four. Cross, on the other hand, has failed to pick up a single point since Night 6 and his chances of qualification have faded fast. That said, he did make the semi-final of European Tour 4 in Germany at the weekend, beating Humphries en route.

Voltage also won the only Premier League meeting between the pair this season, triumphing 6-3 back in February. Much has happened since then and we are banking on Smith to get revenge in this one

10/13 for the 2022 world champion to win the match looks a sensible bet as Bully Boy tries to put pressure on the top four at the optimum time.

Night 13 Accumulator

  • Gerwyn Price’s highest checkout vs Luke Littler over 100.5
  • Luke Humphries vs Nathan Aspinall over 9.5 legs
  • Michael van Gerwen King of the Oche vs Peter Wright
  • Michael Smith to beat Rob Cross

Night 13 Odds & BetMGM Specials

He leads the way in the table and Luke Humphries heads up the market to be the overall winner on Night 13 of 2024 BetMGM Premier League Darts action too. Cool Hand is 5/2 to lift the trophy in Liverpool, ahead of last year’s winner at this venue Michael van Gerwen at 11/4

Second-placed Luke Littler is 7/2 for victory and Gerwyn Price is 6/1 in what is surely a must-win night for the Welshman. Michael Smith can move into the top four this week and is available at 7/1 to win his first night of the 2024 BetMGM Premier League since the competition opener, while Rob Cross is 10/1.

The winner last week in Rotterdam, Nathan Aspinall, is an intriguing 14/1 while Peter Wright, with just two wins all competition, can be backed at a whopping 50/1 for glory in Liverpool.

Gerwyn Price’s nine-dart finish in Manchester remains the sole perfect leg of the 2024 BetMGM Premier League – with just a few rounds left, will we see another one before the culmination of the tournament? Though we have seen just one perfect leg, there has been a fair share of darting drama as the 2024 Premier League has proven to be one of the most exciting yet.

You can get 7/1 for a nine-dart finish to be hit at any point during the evening. With the BetMGM Premier League the competition with the most nine-darters in history, it’s always one to consider.

Last week saw an increase in 180s following a low of just 29 in Birmingham, as the event in Rotterdam saw 44 maximums hit across the night. Michael Smith hit the most 180s with 11 and averages the most per game this season of any player – if you think he can come out on top for maximums once again he is available at 5/1. Bully Boy also hit a 170 checkout in the Netherlands, his second of the competition, and his quarter-final with Rob Cross is 5/2 to be the last-eight tie with the highest checkout.

BetMGM has a host of other markets available before the night gets underway as well as in-play options throughout the evening, so be sure to keep an eye on the BetMGM Premier League Darts Hub over the course of Night 13.
